Adults that ride dirt superminis

I was goofing around at Chaparral a few days ago and sat on a ktm 85sx.
Its cockpit was surprisingly roomy.
Let s just say it seemed like fun and who knows - it could help me work on some skills.
Any full sized adults here own/ride mini dirtbikes? Were they big wheel conversions?
Do it? Don t do it?
PS I have a yz125 as my main dirt bike.

I have a CRF150r big wheel that I ride supermoto on and for that, the size is fine. I've taken it on a small MX track and don't like the smaller bike size for jumps. The handlebars seem like they're at my knees when standing up and the handle bars I have are higher than the typical CR high bend bars.

About 108 years ago, early 70s, several guys around the neighborhood and I would get in a lot behind one guys house, or in another guys backyard, on CT70s, SL70s, XR75s, GT60 and GT80 Mini-Enduros, and race each other. For hours and hours and hours. Every now and then (I have heard that) someone would have to hobble into work and fall down and get hurt so they could go to the doctor for a shoulder surgery. But it goes way back. We weren't the first, the guys before us weren't the first, big guys on little bikes has been going on forever.

To this day, I can find 2 trees 20 or 40 or 60 feet apart, and do circles around them on a minibkie until I get dizzy or run out of gas. It doesn't even need to be trees. A couple weeds, or roots, or anything will suffice.

With a YZ 125 I dunno if going down is really going to get you that much, since your bike is already very light and nimble. If you had a bigger main bike then an 85 could make a fun play bike.

I have a CR80 and it's a good practice bike for learning better clutch control, maintaining momentum and the like. Plus it's so light and small compared to my four stroke I end up trying many things with it I might not otherwise. It started out as a small wheel (17/14) and I'm trying to convert it to big wheel (19/16) if I can ever get the damn swing arm bolt out.

However, at 5'11" the ergos are not great when I stand up, even with 2" risers and high bend bars. Also these motors have peaky power bands so steep uphills with an adult rider can be challenging.

I had this one modded so it was putting out 12-13hp. Thing was loud as hell and lots of fun.

Got popped for DUI riding this one at my friend's place. I'm on the right. Charges were never filed. Bullshit that cost me a lot of money.

I have an RM85L, and used to have a KX100. Both were the 'big wheel' (relative - 19/16) versions. They're a great size for me, but if you're a 'full size adult,' they might be a little cramped for dirt riding.

Then again, a lot of full-size folks seem to like the Grom. :)

But compared to your YZ, a little MX 2T like the 85s is going to be even more peaky.

Whatever that means
minis are stupid fun. i like my grom for street and track and had a blast riding some cr80s around the kids track and trails at holister.

Differing answers, of course. I think if a good deal on a tc85 or 85sx big wheel comes around i will pull the trigger - it's more about having fun.

Adult on a mini? I'm only 62 that's the whole point of a mini, I can be a kid again.

P.S. It's only funny until somebody gets hurt....then it's hilarious! Never grow up is my advice.

Some of my fondest childhood memories was watching my drunk parents and their friends do wheelie competitions with my little 80cc bike around the campfire at 10 at night :rofl I would love a little pit bike or something one day.

I do enjoy my Grom though
