Abandoned Bike

Any lose a BMW S1000RR.
One has been parked on our street for a month now and it’s not moved. Been living here for 6 years so I know it’s not a local bike and I’m the only one around who rides. So I’m guessing it’s either stolen or abandoned.

The bike is in really rough shape. It has been dropped hard on the left side and not so hard on the right. Seats are torn and it’s covered in old faded stickers. Plus there is no license plate.

Reason I’m posting on here is the tires and chain look new so it was definitely someone’s regular ride. Would hate to see it towed if it’s been stolen. Nothing posted in the for sale section of Facebook or Craigslist.

If anyone knows of someone missing a bike like this post up here and I’ll put up pictures. I’ll give it a few days and then I’ll call the Police.

Iphone pictures are to big to post. Anyone know how to make them smaller. Limits 250kb.
Anyway best I can tell the bike has no vin number on the frame and no license plate.

You might also call the dealer on the plate. They may know who bought the bike.

Second picture is for reference. It’s where the vin should be.

Not specific to this bike, but I believe to all:

Vin should be stamped into the frame at the headtube, in addition to a sticker. May be hard to see without moving the bars/forks

The quality of the pictures is pretty bad when you have to compress down to 250kb. But in the first picture you can see where is should be. It’s a slightly raised area. If you look at the reference picture I pulled from google and compare it to the one from the bike you should be able to see what I’m talking about.
Anyway, called the local PD and they are going to come check it out.

Local PD came out and tagged the bike with a “move it or we take it” sticker.
