These guys are treated like "Royalty" from the age of 15 onward. They are treated differently from every other kid in school because they benefit the school in terms of Championships, etc.. On the College level this can mean many more millions of $ for the school.
So, if you are treated 'special' for so many of your formative years- you begin to buy into the notion that you are somehow different from everybody else and are truly special. That's why these guys think that they can get away with anything- including murder.

Dude has got a long history of being a fuckup, way before he was a pro athlete.
But, bottom line is he had a contract to pay him THIRTY MILLION DOLLARS by the time he was 30 years old -- and, like it's been said in this thread, pro athletes are basically royalty and above the law; pretty much the only rule is don't fucking kill someone and you are set for life.
But, here we are... and Hernandez isn't the only one. Fucking morons.
