Tragic accident for the rider but he was awarded 2.1m!

I heard $21.5. But all I saw was a video of the incident with no detail as to what happened, what his injuries were, or whatever else justified a $20M award.

21.5 Million actually.

Dude took a wicked hit. Not sure if the company/driver has enough insurance to pay out that kind of $$$.

You’re right 21.5m

I’m just happy to see someone actually be on the hook for injuring a motorcyclist. Normally it’s a slap on the hand.

The KIA left the carpool lane with out signaling.
He did take two hits one from the car and the other off the truck.
Talk about playing pinball? :(
How much will he really get?? IDK but i hope he gets it all.

The reporter said her employer (auto repair company name not mentioned) had just repaired the car & just got it back on the road. Ah someone w/big insurance to add to the case, her employer. Two to sue...

I'm sure they went after her & the employer's insurance. May have successfully added something like "repaired wrong" or something to add the payout?

I felt that hit in the video; sure glad the guy was successful. That one hurt, I know what spending weeks w/many surgeries in hospital can be like = sucks.

One defendant was the Irvine Kia dealership. It looks like the same company owns other Orange County dealerships, too. So deep pockets and undoubtedly well insured.

It was encouraging to see the riders moving his one leg and arm.
No back injury, hopefully he recovers from whatever injuries he has.

His right leg was bent a little funny and not moving the right arm.

We will see if this carries forward.

Yikes. Normally this level of payout means permanent loss of limb. Glad they're getting compensated, but I'm not sure I'd call that a win or lucky. Luckier that getting hit by a non commercial vehicle with min coverage, but not lucky in general.

You can make/save $20mil. You can't buy an arm, leg, back, or brain function back no matter how rich you are.

I think lucky is the operative word. Socetiy as a whole likely won't even notice & it will be danger as usual on the roads around there....
