is a pretty tripped out korean horror flick. when you're watching it you're like, "wait, this isn't that scary," then it's over and it sorta just sticks with you and you realize it's really tripped out.

worth your time.

Such a strange coincidence...I watched it for the second time yesterday. First time was about a year ago. It's a fantastic movie. I'm planning on watching it again soon, because it has so many details that I'm sure I've missed. Scary it's not, but it's engrossing, to put it lightly.

GREAT recommendation, Shoelace!! :thumbup

"old boy" is so freaking good. jesus... korean movies are definitely their own deal and are the best for the "fucked up tripped out mess with your head" genre, bar none. i'm definitely going on a roll with korean cinema. my queue is stacked with them. i just hope that i won't need therapy afterwards.

the director of Oldboy just released a 1/2 hour film that was filmed completely on iPhones. i worry sometimes about the sucseptability of my people to new technology. it was in korea that someone died of video game exhaustion, wasn't it? there are two other films that form a trilogy with Oldboy. Oldboy is the best. Sympathy for Lady Vengeance is the next best. i like the story of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance a lot, but for some reason, i thought it was the weakest of the three (but still good!). Park Chan Wook is a great director. i'm curious about his iPhone film even while i make fun of it.

the My Wife is a Gangster series is pretty good. it's gangster, but it's a little bit light hearted too. not as much as say, a Jackie Chan movie, but still... Asians like slapstick. don't ask me why. :dunno

i saw Tale of Two Sisters years ago. i don't remember it that well, but it seems like i thought it was a lot creepier and scarier than everyone else in this thread. i dunno, maybe i'm just a pussy! :twofinger

no... not a pussy. i think, though, that movie is creepier and scarier AFTER the movie then while you're watching it. but it's fucking creepy, for sure.

so, then i rented "acacia," made by the same director. just finished it. not quite as good, but definitely had the messed up reveal that i didn't expect. wouldn't rush out to rent it, but it's good in the same vein.

Check out a korean movie called 'H', its not horror, but a very good psychological thriller along the lines of the American movie Se7en.
