A short 3J's vid

Here's a short video of a couple of slow B-group laps:

Watching myself in this is kind of painful :) I don't know why I slow down so much for turn 7. I dislike turn 9 because it's hard for me to throw my XXL mass from side to side quickly enough. I also really need to work on keeping my weight off the bars in hard-braking turns.

I wouldn't worry about it how you handle it. Track days are all about having fun not necessarily about how fast you can go.

But I do have to ask... What setup are you using and how did you get the gauge readouts and stuff.... I SOOOOO want a setup like that.

Is it summer yet?
That data system is awesome. Now get on that throttle, you're on an SV for chrisakes. :twofinger :p

I thought your line through 7 was pretty good, not squaring it off too much like a lot of people do.

Got flatslides? :p

I like the video gauges, just work it so the green bar is longer and the red bar is shorter. :laughing

Yeah, I like the audio :)

I had better sessions, but there was a big bug splat in the middle of the image for both of them. I need to get better at setting my corner entry speeds coming down from higher speeds; then I'll be able to spend more time making the green bar long :)

pssst, that still doesn't tell us about your video rig! Unless you've got it somewhere else on the forum, I'd really like to know.... seriously.

That is one nice video set-up! How hard was it to integrate with the controls of your bike?

You're looking OK out there for a slower B rider. You're riding the way I like to see slower riders ride and leaving plenty of track for guys to pass you easily. You're not going fast enough to use the whole track so you don't. Some people think you need to run the fast guys' lines so you can learn 'em. My opinion is that one needs to learn how to ride fast before riding the fast guys' lines.

Like the rest of us you can get on the gas sooner and harder but that'll come. It was clear you were getting more comfortable each lap as the video progressed.

Quite a bit of work, actually. MSD owns RacePak, who made the G2Xtreme datalogger; my SV doesn't provide an RPM signal that they can use directly, and their GMR pickup didn't work either. Right now I'm using a custom circuit a friend and I have hacked together, but that isn't working very well.

For the brake pressure, I had to build a custom set of lines with a tee, so that I could run the second line from the m/cyl to the pressure transducer.

For the throttle position, I glued a collar onto the carb shaft with epoxy and have a high-temperature potentiometer (that I found at HSC surplus in Sunnyvale) held with a super-custom chunk of plastic from a parts-bin separator :)

I'll take pictures one of these days.

how much did your camera set up cost?

Let's just say that for what I've got invested in two cameras, two recorders, the datalogger and extra sensors, and software, I could buy another used stock SV650 of that vintage (2000).

The ChaseCam PDR100 is great as far as usability and reliability, but having to use composite video from a separate camera head is a serious image-quality bottleneck.
