Sidewalk
My bikes have pedals now
So a kid I know, been chasing and chased by him since he was I think 8 was accepted into the 2015 Red Bull Rookie's Cup!
Super great kid from a great family. Racing has been a family thing, a chance for them to all camp out together. They usually would pull out the BBQ and make some insanely good food for the whole pits. At the first M1GP 24 Hour (where I raced against his team) I got a nice chorizo breakfast burrito
Since it was just a family thing, racing was all about fun. No pressure, just go enjoy yourself. And of course, grades come first. So between studying, soccer, and being a kid, he would occasionally go race. Dad always made a big deal about him staying on the NSR50 as long as possible, believing that going to a bigger bike would make him lazy with his riding, he needed to learn as much as possible.
When now friend (and other Rookie try out) Ruben showed up, his grandfather (who races 650 twins) helped coach the two of them and they improved by leaps and bounds. Pushing each other to the limits. Great competitors for each other on the track, good friends off track. Both applied and got the great opportunity to try out, Ruben made it to day 2, but in the end only 12 were selected out of 109 world wide.
If you can't tell, we (my wife and I) are really proud of him and his family.
