I hesitated to post this but Wob would love to hear from old friends.

Former AFM racer
Owner of Sportech Cycles in SJ
My first race mechanic.
A dear friend for 35 years.

Wob has been battling heart disease for a few years and recently got Covid.
That may have led to his current condition but now his heart, liver and kidneys are failing. He is in the hospital and cannot have visitors but he is texting.

Ok first met Wob at Cycle imports in the early 80’s and when he moved to So Bay Suzuki he took care of the Gamma I raced. He eventually opened his own shop in SJ and worked on several of my bikes. Most recently he helped me restore my Kawi 500 triple.

Saw him a few months ago at another racers friends house for an outdoor Covid hello.

If you wish to text him send me a PM me. If you know him and have his # reach out. He would love to hear from you.

He came to my house for a motoGP race early 2020 and since then other than that one outdoor meet only texts. A lot actually and when Suzuki won the MotoGP championship he was stoked.

He is hard of hearing so phone calls really don’t work to well.

I had major sadz over this. :cry

Love the guy and since I don’t have contact with a bunch of old school AFMers figured this was the best way to reach out.

A couple pics.
Wob as a crew member for an AMA endurance race (2nd from the left)
Wob standing next to my truck and Kawi.

I have more in my computer.

This sucks.

Sorry to hear this sad news, I helped Wob many times with parts when I worked at Road Rider. Because of his hearing problem he pronounced his name Wob, his name was Rob for those who didn't know him. Bud, if you could pm me his cell, it would be appreciated

He is still in the hospital.. Hope he gets some time at home, but with dialysis and who know what else I am not sure. Not being able to have visitors has to suck.

Thanks Lonnie.

Time to check in with him.

Ya know a funny is 10 years ago he wanted me to help a young kid name Deion go race the Nationals. He thought Barf was making bank and a 150k was not a big deal.

I was what?? What makes you think that?? :laughing

Send my best to Wobbie.
I believe I met him a few time during my time at Santa Clara Cycle Accy.

Best wishes for comfort and what joy is possible.

Good on Ya Budman for the friendship and thanks for the awareness.
