A Big Thank You to the Rider on 84W Yesterday...

I pulled out of Alice's at about 5:05 or so and was making my way to the coast. Hadn't been on 84 in a while and was enjoying the ride out to 1 when I happened across a rider heading east just before you hit that little town. I can never remember the name of it, but I think you guys know which one I mean. Anyway, as I am waving to him the rider starts pointing really hard to the ground. I got the point that there was possibly something on the surface that I needed to be careful of, and sure enough right the apex of the right hander just before you come up to the town there was a bunch of dirt, gravel and other debris right there. If I had hit that with the right speed and lean angle, it would have been a real problem. But I was in a defensive posture because of the warning I received and it was OK.

Whoever that was, I want to say thank you. Big time.

As it turned out, I got to return the favor when on the way back I had the oppurtunity to alert another rider who was heading in that direction. So I guess I got to pay it forward a little bit.

It's nice when riders take care of each other. :thumbup

I hit that too on my way home from work around 7:45.

Took me by surprise, the front tire slid sideways about 6" then hooked right back up. Bit of a pucker moment :wow

(Just before the town of La Honda)

Yup! And it's one of those right handers that you like to hit kinda hard, well, because it's fun! So a little more agressive scanning will be in order. Glad you didn't get hung out. When heading west you don't see it until you are right on top of it. At least you can detect it a bit sooner when heading east towards Alice's.

I also hit that good and proper on the way home last night. I was having some fun with the loaner Ninja 250, saw what looked like a big pile 'o' dirt that had been dragged across the road by a previous off road excursion. No avoiding it. Kept the bike neutral and rode out the ensuing bucking bronco. Kind of fun :rofl

those last few turns going west before la honda always have something in them. thats kind of a slide area and i think there are some underground springs too. you will get a stream across the road most of the year and usually some debris. sometimes it can be worse.

Came across this last night without warning from other riders. Gotta stay on your toes in that area, especially with the underground springs.
