7 Lap races?

Interesting that is wasn't mentioned in the e-mail blast either. Just rechecked the e-mails I receive, and nothing mentioned about this. Was it mentioned at the racer's meetings?

Usually it's time constraints, so that some races aren't 4 laps at the end of the day.

What time constraint did we have at 8:30 sunday morning. As far as I know we only had one delay all day long and were done before 4pm. Seems like we should be trying to get more laps for our money not less.

And the reason was? Please explain why our $ bought us less racing with no reasoning

I think it was a time concern based on the red flags in practice, etc, but that's just my guess at this point. I'll ask Barb when I talk to her. There's always reasoning for this stuff Bill. Personally I was fine with not racing late into the day at Sonoma which is what we were forced into in May.

Trust me I know about running late @ infineon. Last year with the $99 NRS i got less laps at a way latter time :thumbdown

Not sure everyone is ok with less for their $$ with out any reasoning

If you had received an email last week notifying you in advance that races would be 7 laps for the same cost would you not have come? How much money per race would you like to be refunded for your missing lap?

I'm out of shape and Sonoma is a lot of work. I can barely do 8 laps anyway.

8 laps are sprint races. If you cant hang than try training for it :afm199. I dont want my $$ back I was spectating but this is just 1 more reason NOT to renew next year :x

It's not that uncommon. Historically, Sonoma shows a drop off of races per rider. I think it has to do with just that; the track beats the hell out of you.

Yeah man, I totally know where you are coming from. One time I went into this ice cream shop and ordered 2 scoops, but the girl only gave me 1 7/8 scoops. I'm definitely never going back there again.

You are bitching about getting less racing for your money and you weren't even racing?! :cry

But if that same shop charged you more each time and the scoops keep getting smaller you still going to buy it? Are you going to just keep you mouth shut and spend that $ all while knowing that the scoops are indeed smaller? NOT me. there are a lot more things out there to spend my money on.
I was in the stands because of this very reason. And I will NOT be bringing my family or sponsors (total of 8 tickets myself this past weekend) to watch sprint races put on by the DMG of the AFM. Let alone paying for race entry and race fee's only to be told at the riders meeting that this round the scoops I payed for are smaller.:thumbdown Nope my $$ will go else where

Bill you just described inflation, in a nutshell. There is no real easy answer except getting more racers to cover the large fixed costs associated with track rental, insurance, workers, etc. Less racers mean less people to spread the costs out among. By a rider boycotting the AFM, they increase the per rider costs. There is no free lunch in economics nor racing.
