600RR Fender Eliminator Stock Exaust/Blinkers

Here is a fender eliminator I made at work on a CNC mill. To remove the fender I first used heavy duty scissors for a rough cut and then I used a dremel tool to finish it off. For visability I wanted to keep the stock blinker setup. I also wanted to have the license plate at a slight angle so it wouldnt throw the lines of the bike off. As a kicker I pocketed out the center section and drilled some holes to save some weight. The part is fastend to the bike using the existing holes that the rear reflector mounted to. This was machined out of solid block of delrin plastic. I would like to make more of these for people who might be interested but I really cant. The machines at work are usually busy making money and finding time to do any kind of personal work is almost nill.

This was the dremel work that was done prior to mounting the part.

I like...

But personally I would remove those HUGE stock blinkers and get some short stalks.

I mounted LP Short Stalk II's in back and they are just as bright, if not brighter than the stock ones; while keeping the back end a little less bulky looking.

Cool how everyone seems to come up with a new twist on chopping the fender.

Its nice having those big blinkers back there so the cagers can see you better is my thought on that. Eventually I might lose them. About the time I decide to put a exaust on it. ;)

Hey Bennie,
Cired is my older brother... I know we we throwing the idea around for a sec about getting some shorties, but my bro wanted to kep the visibility up. Which is cool. I sometimes think about my flush mounts, and how NOBODY can see 'em. I did my flush mounts 'cause I was getting tired of removing my lights for track days all the time. However, the shorty blinkers would look bling...

Hey Dion,

Your bro does some good work...Yeah, visibility was a big issue with me too, concerning changing out the blinkers both front and back.
For the back I had doubts about how bright the new LP short stalks would be until I actually saw them in the dark, and in the daytime. Like I said they are as bright if not brighter than the stockers. I don't think missing that extra lenght for the right and left stems will affect visibility.
Probably be there next Thursday in Fremont so yourself, or your bro can check it out on my bike. Marshal's RR still has the stockers on in back and we'd be able to compare the differences.:cool

The stock blinkers up front cracked the mid fairing when my brother low-sided. The rear....well...they're integrated into the stock LEDs now. Ever since my first trackday, I haven't put the turn signals back on. Lazy me. I actually have some flush mounts that I haven't installed yet. Again...lazy me.

Great job, those things are sweet. My lady has a RR and if you ever find some time to make some more brakets, let me know when, and how much!

Noyce, very noyce....

Ben,

On the ride up to San Fransico I noticed a difference between your blinkers and Matts ;). With the short stalks I had a hard time noticing the signals in the direct sunlight. At night I'm sure it's a different story but at least in the day light I think the stockers are brighter. I think it has to do with the larger lens module and more reflecting light.

I have got to agree with rob, I had to make sure that you had your blinker on a few times. If I were in my car and wasn't looking for it I would never have seen them. I wanted to do something like this guy has done but I didn't know how to light up the plate. You can do whatever you did but it's still not legal until you light up your plate with a white light.

Your right about lighting the plate Marshall. Right now I removed the light and have the socket tucked away wrapped in electrical tape. All my riding is done durring the day and hopefully I never get stopped for it or absolutely have to ride at night. When I end up putting a can on the bike, or a full exaust :) I will probly end up re-making another part to accomodate the new setup. I have thought of a mount for a plate light and it would be pretty easy to incorporate into a new design. It would actually be pretty trick. The mount for the light would be machined and you would attach the socket/bulb just like the stock setup from the back. Above the plate would be possibly a clam shell design and the light would reflect down to the plate only. I would 3D machine this area. I would need to fiddle around with the design with my Cad program (Mastercam) but I have some descent ideas.

How do other people who have installed aftermarket exaust and fender eliminator kits, light up their plate?. The ones I have seen looks like a sheet metal bracket that holds the plate under the pipe with no lighting.

I've seen plates with lights kind of like the one on this plate. They replace the screws that hold on the plate and light up your plate. These could work!

Those are cool! I wonder how it tapps into your existing wiring harness? I guess you can splice into it.....

Depending on how you do wire it, you definitely need some heat shielding on the wires. Also a way in which to mount it cleanly without passing too close to the exhaust. Probably find that same cladding/sleeve that's used with the stock blinkers, that resists heat at Fry's.

Those Light Screws can be found on Ebay. Just do a search on 600RR or Honda 600 RR and they'll show up.

I'll probably wait till my exhaust gets delivered before I start tooling with the rear end again. But that might be my solution if I eliminate the stock tail altogether.
