My Duc shop rate is $149 an hour.

$50 bux seems fair to me given Intake / shop time/billing.

Takes a little cash to run a business

I will sell and may buy another Duc, life is to short to ride a boring bike. :cool

Like you, I've ridden a fair number of bikes. I'm not sure I've ever ridden a "boring" one. But I've probably ridden several in a boring fashion. :rofl

I think the annoyance here is that one must take the bike to a dealer to get the nanny warnings re-set. This is a factory complaint, not a dealer complaint.

The dealer deserves to be paid for LEGITIMATE work he does. Re-setting a maintenance reminder?

Come on...

You bought a high technology motorcycle and wonder why anyone would want TPMS? Sheesh.

>high technology

Really? I mean it's got EFI, some CANBUS nonsense, a little computer that most bikes over $10,000 new should have... doesn't seem that high tech, maybe for 2008, but not for 2019...

I personally wish I could have my (non BMW dealer) mechanic take out the TPM front and rear next tire change and make the computer forget it ever had it... just so I don't have to spend $200 on a new one...or stare at the little yellow triangle any longer. I understand why people want TPM, but I don't really need it. Rode all those miles on my bikes before without it :) It's good to look at your tires anyways.

I also didn't buy the bike because it was high tech, I got it with the idea it would be a solid road tripper... but I bought a truck, so now I'm looking to go back to a more hooligan oriented machine.

yes, it sucks when something is done gratis for years and then all of a sudden there is a charge for it.

unfortunately that seems to be happening more and more in every industry.

that extra slice of tomato that's been free for 9 years, now $1. oh,ok, so if i order no tomato you going to subract $2 for the 2 slices? oooohhhhhhh, sorrrrrry it doesn't work that way

I've gotten lazy with doing my own maintenance so I bring my bike to the dealer for everything. They seemed to cut me a deal cause its often less than I expect. I don't expect them to do any work for free.

Rolls with it...
My bike's at the local dealer getting repaired for a knock over incident, and I said "may as well change the oil and filter, and I'll pay for that separately."

The manager looked at me, looked at the paperwork, looked at the check, looked back at me: "We can do that, but you don't need to pay..."

Nice.

I had my dualsport at the dealer on time for a few issues, replace chain & sprockets, sort out FI issues, change tires and something else. Service manager call to says its ready and at that point I realized I hadn't asked to have rim locks installed. I asked him if they by chance installed any. Dude say nope he only did what was on the list. I asked if they could remove the tires again and install the rim locks.
Go in later to get the bike and the bill was just over $1K. Dude looks at it and says wow we can't charge you that much and knocks it down to $700 which was a nice gesture IMO. Sure I could have done it all myself but didn't feel like it.

"Total charge was $50 for him to verify my forks were in the correct position, turn off the oil light and apply software updates I didn't ask for. "

You told us he did a lot more than reset the oil light. $50 sounds cheap. Most places charge a minimum of an hour no matter what and an hour might be as high as $150.

This.

If it makes you feel any better Chevy wants 165$ (1hour) to reprogram my key fob.
