What ever happened to the political section of this forum. Always some rich interesting discussion.

Are you saying his passing is politically motivated?

exactly. BARF has been censored so any controversy is carried on behind the veil of the "private" curtain which is really open to anyone who "asks permission" to go behind. Weird.

It isn't even remotely weird when you consider all the great work that Budman and others have done on the advocacy and PR fronts of helping the moto community.

Given that too many can't state an opinion without being asshats, is it really that hard to understand how some of the poo flinging might reflect badly on the site as it has evolved to serve as a voice of our community?

He was the only true closet liberal Republican this country has seen in my lifetime. Great man for the most part. Never thought he felt truly comfortable with the Republican platform of his day.

Bush did have some “liberal” policy legacy WRT the environment, but Nixon was this country’s last real liberal POTUS, regardless of party. Maybe Nixon was not in your lifetime?

RIP to my favorite pres.

He was a gentleman and a scholar.
Senator, Ambassador to the UN and envoy to China. Head of the CIA. Understood foreign policy at a level his successors couldn't even dream of. Had the mark of a true intellectual- he was willing to reverse his thinking and ideology based on new information-- something today's world sorely needs more of. Modest to a fault, and enforced modesty on all of his aids, appointees, and advisers. On top of all that, he was a WWII Navy vet and survived being shot down over the Pacific, and was eventually recused by a submarine. Never brought it up himself or flouted it as he wanted to be judged solely on his political merits.

The world is worse without him.

the media ripped on him every chance they got when he was in office, now they're glorifying him

Not as fast as I look.
One of, if not the most, qualified Presidents the United States ever had. I thought he lost touch after his one term Presidency, a bit. I voted for Perot. BUT, compared to Presidents since, he was "a thousand points of light" ahead of them. Mr. Clinton reaped the benefits of Mr. Bush's decisions.

A truly great American. The last of the "Greatest Generation Leaders." Junior had a hard time holding back the tears, today. I don't blame him. Pence and Ryan gave nice speeches.

Was in his neighborhood over the weekend so paying my respects at his library in College Station seemed proper.
He served us well.

(Unless it is Racist or Sexist speech- then that can take place anywhere.)

RIP President Bush. He was a class act. The way he very adeptly dealt with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Soviet Union; he did not rub anyone's nose in it. He was extremely calm and collected when asked about it. He was extremely diplomatic.
