4 day Christmas ride? Ideas and routes???

Be Here Now
So going to have 4 days off for Christmas this year.

First time in, well, ever.

Was thinking a ride because weather looks promising for clear skies...

Not like two years ago, the monsoon ride of death.

Don't want to go to the snow necessarily.

Don't want to get too crazy adventure like just as I'll be solo.

Want something different.

Not decided on whether I'd take the Concours or the KLR so route can be for either.

TIA

Super envious of your four days away during this time of year. Camping or hotels?

Not a crazy adventure, but last year I got three days away prior to Christmas. I rode down to Santa Cruz to a hotel, then picked away at back roads for two days. The weather on the central coast was epic.

Took a leisurely ride on 1 to get there and back. Rainy and windy on the way home, but absolutely worth it.

Ride up north and visit Redwoods National Park. Stay in Arcata. You can ride highway 36 and 299 for part of the trip. Go up Highway 1 to get there. Combine riding, easy hiking, and some beautiful scenery. :cool

I think the socal fires have died but I'd venture further South for warmer weather. Go east of San Luis Obispo on Hwy 58 or 166 with the Concours. It's eerily desolate but with no cars insight, you'll have the roads to yourself. Might be a bit colder in the valleys in the morning.
