24HR Fitness Class Action

Anyone a part of the class action settlement with prepaid memberships at 24HR Fitness? Got my check today. It covers 3 of the 4 years it should have covered. My last renewal was 8/9/18 and the settlement was finalized on 6/1/18. I balked at paying the higher amount for the last renewal but had yet to get word on the settlement so I didn't know it was settled. Wondering if I call the settlement administrator, if they will send me a correct check or a check for the difference.

Huh. I haven't been a member there in like 15 years. Anytime Fitness works great for me these days.

When will the class action regarding the old guys drying their balls with blow dryers be filed, though?

Unfortunately that happens at more than just 24 HR fitness. It's great for weight loss because of the damage to appetite.

Not getting ripped even though they sat on the rowing machine to watch Good Morning America every day.

The company over promised on prepaid memberships. Employees were selling them as having a locked in rate for life as long as the member stayed in good standing. Turns out the fine print said otherwise. In my case I was never even given the actual contract. I was given a receipt that kinda seemed like a contract but it wasn't. Didn't realize I didn't have the contract. So I had no idea till my rate went up. When it did I contacted them and they sent a copy of the contract. Irked me but I figured it would lead to a class action. Took a few years but it happened.

I came at the title incorrectly also.
When I worked in the city they were known as *Trannyfour fitness*
I just figured pickles were landing in the wrong locker room.

Funny, I've had the same rate for almost 15 years now. That's because they had to honor my contract with a private club they acquired back in 2003.

Per the contract they could have raised my rate after 4 years but they didn't until after year 7. Rate didn't go up much but it was almost triple what I had been paying.

No one cares about the rowing machines. I prefer to sit on the bench presses and sort out my Spotify play list for 5 minutes between sets. If I’m not ready to pump up I like to set my gym bag on said bench with accompanying water bottle while I go take a shit for 20 minutes. :cool

My renewal's been $49 a year for the last 12 years. Haven't been to the gym for four years but I still pay it every year :teeth

Yeah it's hilarious how much time kids take between sets. Depends on your goal, but if it's gaining mass, you want no more than 45-60 seconds.

Smart phones are the worst thing to ever happen to health clubs!

The worst part is that the New Years Resolution Crowd hangs around for far longer than they used to because they are getting Cred for being at the gym, nevermind that they only get about 4 sets in in a half hour because they're too busy texting/posting/picking out songs. :thumbdown

Either that or they're using some silly fitness app they read about in Men's Health, telling them to do these exotic versions of burpees, when they haven't even tried the basics first. It's "workout of the week", kinda like "diet of the week". Right now everyone is either Paleo or Keto, even though they have no clue whether it's right for their goals or their health, because they're just following the latest fad.

What's worse is Smith racks, since they allow people to cheat in several exercises. If you're at a smaller gym, good luck because that rack is going to be busy.

So that's where all of those goofy misuses of the machines come from? :rofl

I have witnessed more idiot uses of the machines by people who clearly have zero clue about what they were trying to accomplish for each year in the last decade than I saw in the previous two decades combine. :wow

Then I had some dumb-assed kid who wasn't old enough to be in the weight room for more than 5 years come up to me and try to tell me that I was doing it all wrong. :wtf (At that point I had 4 decades of lifting and there is substantial documentation that I was doing it exactly as I should have been doing) I still shake my head over that one, WTF gave that moron the confidence to come up and try to tell me I was doing it all wrong?
