After reading about the bay area man who was 700+ pnds, I thought I would share something somebody showed me awhile back. I've really contributed exercising for my successes and/or dealings with failures. Life is about your own decisions .. :thumbup:twofinger

I'm on my phone. What's the cliff notes version of the video?

Edit: I was able to watch it and it's awesome to know that, despite the extra weight I carry, my daily bike commute is dramatically reducing many health risks.

Get excersice 30 minutesa day every day. Preventative medicine that works extremely well. Even if it's just walking

It's sad to me just how hard it is to get people to make a change like this UNLESS some physical problem pops up (heart attack, etc).

We all know it's something we *should* do but doing it is hard. I'm in decent shape (crossfit, run 10-15 miles a week, rock climb, ec) but I don't do something everyday. Maybe I should...

Awesome! I've been slacking on my walking lately, this is a good reminder. Thanks!

I think that in our culture to be healthy, you have to pull yourself out of the mainstream mindset of what healthy is:

-Learn the difference between natural foods and "chemically acclaimed" natural foods
-Make exercise apart of your daily activities instead of "setting a time" for exercise
-Learn about proper nutrition in regards to what the body needs as a whole instead of picking certain nutrients (protein, calcium, iron) over others.
-Know that your body is designed for movement more than being sedentary

IMO

Great stuff.

I just started doing yoga. 25 or so mins of "beginner" yoga on Comcast on-demand kicks my ass more than 45 mins of tennis and a jog.

Don't know why, but since yoga I am losing fat and gaining strength faster than with any other workout I have done.

Also, since my back and abs are stronger, it's easier to stand up straight. Instantly taller!

All for only about 2 hours a week.
