2019 ZX6r Quickshifter Question

Did a search, no luck. I bought a 2019 ZX6r, brand new a couple of days ago. Turned on KQS mode and started quick shifting. I've read that it's notorious for not being the most "smooth" when not applying at least 1/2 WOT or at higher RPMs. In other words, just normal shifting, it feels clunky and the timing of the fuel cutoff is a little bit off. It's great at WOT higher RPMs..

My question, is there a way to mitigate this via ECU flash or perhaps upgrading the quick shifter altogether? I'm pretty new to quickshifters in general so are they only meant for WOT/high RPM shifting? Thanks in advanced.

What type of sensor does the qs mechanism use?

That's a great question. Hmm, how do I tell? I'm not familiar with quickshifters at all.

It's whatever comes stock on the 2019 from the factory. They're equipped with them.

Reason I ask is if it's a load type (sensor located in the middle of the shift linkage) you have to make sure to shift positively and maintain pressure a little longer than you normally would so it can cut throttle. Or, maybe don't hold as much pressure if it's super notchy. Play around with how your shift pressure is.

This can likely be modified by an ECU tuner also, for a pretty penny.

The quick shifter on my Ducati Supersport S works well at most RPMs and throttle openings. At very low RPMS and throttle openings you're more likely to get a clunky shift but above 3500rpm it's pretty much perfect...

i ride the same bike but my qs always feel smooth 99% of the time and doesnt feel "clunky"; and im really new to this qs thing. :dunno
idk; i just kinda know when to qs and at what rpm so it goes as smooth as i can; and i usually watch the flow of traffic; if i only need to go from 1st to 2nd and have to slow down almost right after i shift up; i usually just pull the clutch in and shift up like theres no qs. :dunno
when i ride on freeway, qs always felt smooth as butter. lol

make sure your drive chain is adjusted correctly and lubed. Makes a big difference.

Same bike, I agree. The fuel cutoff is maybe 10-15ms too long. AFAIK there's nothing you can do to adjust it.

Someone asked me when do I use my QS. I hadn’t thought about it but my pattern is if it is just 1-2, I use the traditional method. But if I am getting on the freeway or 1-4 I usually shift above 8k (redline is 12k or higher on my bikes). All QSs I have had, OE and aftermarket have been butter smooth.

They're basically made for high rev/wot shifting. They're originally used on bikes as race equipment

Upgrade the QS. The OEM one was flatout garbage for me in the weekend I spent riding with it stock. I went the FTECU route and have no regrets.
