The Big Sur coast, before traffic picks up, is amazing. Requires an early start, but totally worth it.

Mr. Manchild on his ZG1000, mellowtonin on his OG hypermotard, my MTS, and KTM Ken on his 60,000-mile 990 SD:

At the crest at Alta Sierra. 35F, but no rain (does riding through clouds count as "rain"?)

Saturday I wanted to do Sherman Pass. I'd heard it was still snowed over, but I'll the type who wants to see for myself.

It was definitely still snowed over.

We had ourselves a brief snowball fight, made some colored snow, and headed back down.

We rode hundreds of miles of hardcore twisties at extra-legal speeds, dodging rocks and dirt and sand and potholes... And Heath crashed his shit in a muddy gas station lot.

Everyone was concerned on Saturday night about the ride home on Sunday. This is what the radar looked like at 9pm. Luckily I managed to split during a brief clear spot on Sun morning, and booked it up the valley dodging cloudbursts. Made it home with a total of maybe 30 minutes of rain on me. Not bad...

Here are some shots from this weekend's fun time at the PitHo Rally in Kernville.

1 - On our way to Kernville stopping at a favorite spot on Highway 25.
2 - A shot of the full moon on the way back from pizza on Friday night.
3 - Fun times on the Great Western Divide Highway into 190.
4 - A quick stop on our way back into Kernville on Saturday.
5 - In honour of HoHo I set a trip meter for this weekend's mileage.

I thought that no one would notice since I waited until Martini Time to move my Hyper underneath the awning. Heath took one look from the parking lot, shook his head, pointed his finger at me and shouted, "Ducatista!":rolleyes

In my defense I figured if the Austrians couldn't properly waterproof their electrical components (I basically IP66'ed my KTM 690 wiring harness with Japanese connectors), there is zero reason to believe the Italians would've done any better back in 2008:rofl

Saturday was a good day. Rode up the gorge over to 190 and Springtown.. then back. Road was mixed.. pretty dirty so it demanded attention. A couple of minor slides proved we did not get too crazy. :laughing

I should have done that. I had issues with my bike on Sunday after the bike sat in the rain for two nights and did some hard duty in the rain.

Sunday rainy funday

We headed over to Cayucos.

I rode with KTM Ken, Mellowtonin, Butch, L8Braker (the flying banana was glowing!) and DR SLO. Sweepingwinger had left before us... looking for that window. :laughing

We caught rain right out of 178.. then we hit my window of sunshine through bakersfield and Buttonwillow.

We got some fun in on 58 before it started to rain.. right about the big hills.
We had told Ken and Alex that we were not doing the Landing Chute if it was raining so we said gbye there.

Then on too 101 where we hit torrential shit!! Only lasted the 8 miles on 101 and then lightened as we took 41 to the coast.

Cayucos was sunny enough for us to be happy.
Wet gloves, we feet.. mostly smiles!!

Time to hit the Cayucos Cardroom Saloon! ort

I told Ed the Saloon was only 3 or 4 blocks away.. it was like 10. :facpalm
I guess I tend to get hammered in Cayucos.. this time was the same.

Lets see.. a couple of 805's, a bourbon, a couple of vodka's, 2 bottles of wine with an awesome dinner and then... I don't remember. :laughing

Monday morning my Italian girl said F U... the electronics were going screwy.

Finally got it started and when we stopped for brekkie in Cambria it did it again. Another delay and a few oh shits, had us back on the road. HWY was sunny and awesome. I did not want to stop the bike so no photo's.

Just as we hit the Carmel chevron it died. I pushed it in the station.

Considered a tow, but gave it a shot and after a bit it launch.
Must ride now!!! Ed and I took off and went straight to 101. Just get me home... just get me home. It did. Phew.

Good times. Loved sitting on the porch in those super awesome chairs chatting, watching the plaza. Good band on Saturday night too!!

Excellent ride this weekend with Bart on the Tiger and myself on the BLK Kawk 650. Very snowy on Hwy 88 on Thursday with low visibility but luckily none of it was sticking to the pavement.

Great time meeting everyone this weekend!
