Taft? Why Taft you ask? Because, it is The Best of Places!

If you have been on a Paso Rally, they you probably have gone through Taft at one point. Taft is located on the southwestern end of the San Joaquin Valley, about 40 miles south of Buttonwillow Raceway.

This location provides access to some fantastic riding to, from, and around. Highways 33 and 58, the Carrizo Plain, Hudson Ranch Road, Lockwood Valley Road, Tepusquet Road. Not to mention on the way there and back; Highway 25, Los Gatos Creek Road, Indian Valley/Peach Tree, Parafield Grade. Adventures abound! Plenty of riding opportunities; long or short, goaty or sweepers, dirt if you want to find it.

Your responsibilities

Sign-in and Check-in
Be aware that we do have a sign-in/check-in policy. Please refer to the Participant’s Package when it becomes available.

Early Departure
If, for any reason, you decide to depart early from the rally, you must notify a rally coordinator, or ask another participant to relay your intent to a rally coordinator.

What’s a Rally?
This is not an organized or guided group-riding event. There are no designated leads or sweeps. This is a rally with pre-determined routes, common points-of-interest and destination for the participants. The daily starting point and time are provided to allow the participants the greatest opportunity to enjoy the company of other BARFers and BARFettes along the way for the duration of the rally. Participants are free to band into groups of their choosing, and at their own risk.

You are responsible for yourself
Riding a motorcycle is dangerous. You are responsible for your own safety. Proper riding gear, a valid CDL/M1, vehicle registration and proof of insurance are highly recommended. You are also responsible for the good operating condition of your motorcycle. The good condition includes general mechanical condition, as well as the condition of wear items such as chains and sprockets, brake pads, and tires. In short, YOU are the Captain of your own ship.

Expenses
You are responsible for your own expenses. Budget for lodging, entrance fee(s), gas, food, beverages, and anything you may need along the way accordingly.

Anyone trailering from the East Bay?

It's plated, but I don't think my KTM 450exc would be too happy with all those highway miles.

Do these rallies have newbie friendly groups?

There will be people riding at a newbie friendlier pace and you can go along with them. It is ultimately each person's responsibility to get to Taft safely. When I went on my first rally I was a newb.

Sign up, don't be scared. I guarantee you'll have a good time. :ride

G, it sounds like there are some people considering trailers bikes down to take advantage of Carrizo. Maybe you can hitch a ride and relax by the pool.
