2017 GSXR1000R Alternatives?

Hello Everyone! :afm199

After placing a deposit and ordering my 2017 GSXR1000R, the local dealership has had two delays in shipment date. Initially the bike was said to have arrived by May. At this point they are claiming late June. Being that I sold my commuter to prepare for their initial delivery timeline, I am now without a bike and blowing money on fuel. To stay occupied I'd like to either bench race and distract myself, or actually buy something else to vote with my $$ as they say. I'm fairly bummed about Suzuki's lack of care regarding the delivery timeline. My ideal alternatives are buying new from another brand or a low mileage Bking or Hayabusa. Due to laziness and a long commute, I am uninterested in anything that is not excruciatingly fast. Please keep this in mind when making suggestions. If I want to go have fun and go slow I have my MR50 to play on... :ride

So far I have considered:
S1000RR
K1300R (a bit too heavy, otherwise looks acceptable)
ZX14 (used or new old stock, all new options have that nasty Kawasaki green on them)
FZ10 (butt ugly, I like the specs but hate the appearance)
GSXS1000S (ugly, but I have a dead 06 Gsxr1000 to swap performance parts from)
Hayabusa (heavy, epic reliability, great for super slabbing)
BKing (rare enough to require shipping, but otherwise seems awesome)

So, fellow barfers, let the debate begin. I am considering just waiting it out, but I'm going crazy without a bike. What would you do? I appreciate all input. I also have whats left of my 03 Bandit I could rebuild, but that would be more of the same "boring" flexy frame bike I've been riding for 40,000 miles or so...

I also forgot to mention the Panigale 1299 is also high on my list, but I am unsure of the reliability. I cover 15,000-20,000 miles per year and don't want to budget for a second engine before the machine is paid off.

I'll help you narrow down your choices. Call your insurance and ask for quotes for the ZX14 and Hayabusa. I'm sure after you repeat to them you still have a clean record, you will likely scratch them off your list (at least they did for me).

I'd wait for the GSXR

Might be a bit of a wait... :laughing

No brainer, KTM 1290 Super Duke.

Insane torque, insane brakes, all the electronic rider aids you need, and a riding position that's all-day comfortable? Sold! I haven't missed my GSX-R750 for a single second since acquiring my 1290 Super Duke...

Might also be worth looking at the Ducati Multistrada 1200S, the BMW S1000XR, and the KTM 1290 Super Duke GT. These bikes are great if you cover a ton of miles, need a little wind protection, and want super-plush suspension.

On with the show...
...I'm fairly bummed about Suzuki's lack of care regarding the delivery timeline...

I too had a 2017 Suzuki coming in "sometime in April". After 35 days with no convincing ETA, I requested my deposit back. The dealership was very understanding and I had no problem with them - great customer service etc... but I was still without my new bike after over a month.

I ended up finding a deal I couldn't pass up on a '14 Ducati Monster 1200S with 400 miles.

Good luck man... I like the Monster 1200R.

Just my 2cents worth, I don't understand the comparison of a GSXR with any bike that has the bars above the tree.
I have taken demo rides on the SD and I like the bike a lot. But, I'm looking at bikes with clip on bars and the Duke is out.

Ha I third this, after removing the cat, and installing power commander, next stop is Rottweiler airbox, it unleashes the beast like it should have been from the start its is a snarling beast now. I whacked it going up my street like a proper Hooligan, the rear spun up, a woman walking heard it jumped up on the side walk as if it were a monster and I wheelied off in a 2nd gear power wheelie, now What is better than that?????
