I got my 08 R1 brand new for 2K less... & i'm not a very good haggler... so i would say not a good deal.

on a side note, i will sell you a slightly used R1 for 12K if you're interested. :twofinger

I remember being at the santa clara motorcycle show several years back and being in shock at seeing the 600s hit the $8K price range.

KHAAAAAN!
Aren't there fees and taxes that get added onto MSRP? :dunno

Nope.

I don't know which tax rate they are going by. Eureka's 8.5% because that's where they are located. Or Fortuna's tax rate of 7.5%.

Let's say they are using Eureka's. 8.5% on $12,199 is $1,037.

And let's say we use the MSRP as the sale price:

That's before any dealer prep fee or bullshit "document fee".

So under $13,000 OTD....would seem like a good deal then.

I'd wait for others to chime in.

He said "under 13 otd" .... so, that sounds fair then.... Maybe I'll be pushy and say I want it for 12.5 otd:) But, he does need to make some money on the deal, gotta keep the guy in business:teeth

Say 12.5 and let him counter offer as I am sure he will. No harm to ask! I was looking at the 750's last year and got a quote of 13K OTD..so your deal sounds about right. I wound up finding a 2009 750 with only 5K...all black..original owner had added Yoshi pipe, CRG levers(though shorties which I don't like) and smoke windscreen added. It is pristine. Was surprised to see it at Tracy Motorsports..was there with someone else who was buying a used bike he saw on CL..he got his bike and I went home with that Gixxer. Now I have the 2009 600 and 2009 750..600 is now strictly track!

You will love it..you may find some nice used bikes for a few thou cheaper unless you are absolutely in love with brand new..look around..some dealers may have some used ones out there..

What happened to Multistrada lust?
:p

Oh, it's still there. :love.... If I my finances were in better shape, that is what I would get. I'm trying something new I heard about (it's just an experiment for me at this point) ..... something called "living within my means :)". My inner princess is very cranky and pouty about it, but, I'm going to give it a go:party

(Bill Gates, if you are reading this, and are touched by my story, PM me and I'll give you my bank account #. You can just electronically transfer me the funds:thumbup:laughing)

If you're looking at buying new bikes, I would happily live within your means! :laughing
If you enjoy that Gixxer as much as I do mine, though, it's worth every penny!! :)

Wow, crazy coincidence, I was just about to PM you!!!
Where do you go for your aftermarket items?
What modifications have you made to your bike? What year is yours?

This is going to be a big change for me. I'm a little nervous, but mostly excited. I have absolutely loved my Hyper for the last 4 years, but, the closest Ducati mechanics/dealerships are 5 hours driving time away (either Hattar, A&S, or Hansen's in Medford). I ride about 10K a year, so, we have to drive or ride down to Roseville or San Rafael, Spend night.... with gas, hotel, and the cost of the service, doing that a couple of times a year... that adds up!$$

Well. I'm not 100% sure I'm going to do this yet, but, I'm very close.
Thanks for chiming in:party

5 years ago? I think bikes cost more now.

:laughing You sir, get a gold star for the day from me. I was trying to think of a smart-ass reply to that 08 R1 post, but, I decided to just let it go, and hoped that maybe someone else would handle it for me. So, thanks.:teeth

I bought my bike used, with a few thousand very gentle miles on it. The guy I bought it from had already done most of the mods I wanted- Yoshi pipe and Power Commander, and fender eliminator kit (I hate the stock fenders- so ugly). In all honesty, the stock set up is pretty damn good. The only thing I'm really jonesing for are rearsets... since I've had a chance to spend some time on the track and have ridden with aftermarket fixed pegs, I really really reeeeaaaaaaally want that for the Gixxer. Just hard to justify the expense when I've got crap to buy for the race bike... :(
If I were you, I'd take a week to look around for a low-mileage used 750 before buying new out the door. There are some fantastic deals out there. If you don't find the "perfect bike" for the "perfect price", then go wheel n deal with the dealership! :thumbup
Doing your own maintenance on a Gixxer is a cakewalk, and sometimes I actually enjoy it! :laughing
There's something zen-like lying on the ground, re-doing the safety wiring after an oil change... (yeah, I might be kinda weird with that one...) :)
My Gixxer has over 55,000 miles on it (most of that by me), it's running like a top, and still performs beautifully. I honest to god love my bike.
Oh, and Gixxers have more comfortable seats than any other bike I've sat on! :laughing
