    • Inspecting the bike: if you are not experienced yourself, have a mechanic or an experienced friend check the bike before making a purchase. Crashed bikes:This is even more important if you are buying a bike that is being sold at a cheaper price with damages that the buyer is required to fix. In these cases, doing a frame check that will show any frame/fork/geometry damages is HIGHLY recommended. Do NOT simply rely on the information that the seller is providing, even he/she may not be aware of all the problems. Have the crashed bike checked and know what you are getting into.
    • Clean title, Salvage title A clean title doesn't mean the bike is free of serious issues. A Salvaged title doesn't mean the bike may have any problems. Every case is different. Some bikes are seriously damaged in a crash, but an insurance claim is never made on them, so they still have a clean title. Some bikes have had mostly cosmetic damages in a crash, but the insurance company decided to pay off the bike and salvage the title rather than spending the money to fix it. Know what you are getting into and don't make any assumptions based on what the seller is telling you.
    • Registration: Know about the current registration status of the bike. Check with DMV if you have any questions about any possible back fees and other title/registration questions (out of state title, no title with bill of sales only, etc.) before purchasing the bike.

2012 Ossa 280i with upgrades to 2013 specs

Re-routed and reduced wiring harness; new rear fender (flexible rather than stiff), 2013 decals.
2nd owner (1st owner didn't ride it much); bought from Lewisport in November 2014, ridden for 1 1/2 seasons with SactoPits.

Bike is fuel injected 2 stroke allowing a low center of gravity with a high mount airbox keeping water out.
Ride at any elevation without concern to jetting, mix ratio is 110:1.
Stock Marzochhi 40mm front suspension Ohlins rear, Domino grips, S-3 bar ends.
Bike is in great mechanical shape, has a few small dings and scratches mostly just in the decals; have an extra air filter to go with it.

$4,000 obo; bike is in the East Bay (5%) to BARF

I know this is a dumb question, but how quiet are these? I was wondering if I could play in my yard with it? I live in a gated community, so in reality I'm sure it isn't allowed, but if it is super quiet, I maybe able to pull it off.

My wife and neighbors would be so impressed. LOLOLOL

they are pretty quiet... way quieter than a leaf blower, even a leaf blower idling. Like your SV idling, with stock exhaust. You generally ride these things at low RPM.

(there are no dumb questions)

I do this quite a bit but have a large yard and good neighbors ( in Oakland). Like butch said, they're more quiet than a weed whacker or leaf blower by a mile; mostly low rpm stuff with little throttle blips now and again. Since you vary the rpms they aren't annoying like yard tools....

Thank you for the answers. I live in S. Orange County in a gated community, but it is a 10K flag shaped lot with a longer driveway, so almost no one would be able to see me. If it were electric it would be a no brainer. I own 2 stroke and 4 stroke dirt bikes and I don't think I could really get away riding them around my yard, but I thought with this, it maybe possible.

I need to look if there is one around here, at a dealer or something to get an idea of noise. I've always thought it would be fun to ride a trails bike, but haven't ever taken it to the next step to really research it.

Thanks for all the inquiries everyone, bike is sold. We'll see him at the upcoming PITS events, the guy lives near Auburn and is excited to do some trials (enduro background).
