[solved] 2008 zx6r throttle body issue - advice or help please

Hey guys, I have FI error code 62 - "subthrottle valve actuator malfunction"

Troubleshooting done:
  1. I took the bike apart, so I can see the subthrottle valves - turned the ignition, valves don't turn.
  2. Then, got my multimeter to check resistances on the connector (should be 5-7 ohm), they were 7 ohm.
  3. I traced the wiring harness as best I can (missed a few spots in hard to reach locations) and didn't see any shorts or other defects.
  4. Then, I ordered a throttle body assembly off ebay from a (seller confirmed) working bike.
  5. Once that arrived, I plugged the connector into it, turned the key, and those subthrottle valves also don't turn. I checked their resistances - 7 ohm again.

At this point - I either have 2 dead subthrottle valve actuators or something mysterious is going on with my wiring harness and electricals.

If there's anyone in the Bay who could come and look at my bike (I'm in San Leandro), that would be greatly appreciated. I'm happy to provide beer and food.

At this point, I have no idea what to do other than strip the entire wiring harness off the bike and check it for damage, and I kind of doubt it is damaged.

Please help, I haven't been able to ride it in a bit over 6 months and am going crazy!!

Update:
Something was wrong with the ECU, replaced it ($50 on ebay) and everything is good.

John, Do you have any recommendations for a peak voltage adapter?

Don't need it. Just see if it's getting any juice at all. Set it to DC.

Does either motor (actuator) make any noise at all when you turn the key?

This bike should still run in "limp" mode with the FI code, right?

I set the multimeter to 10 DCV (options of 10, 50, 100, 250 or so).
Putting the needles in 1 and 3, and 2 and 4 (from comment #5), I got no blip in voltage when turning the key on.

The actuator from both throttle bodies makes no sound when turning the key on.
The bike does still run in "limp" mode with the FI code.

I'm guessing this all implies a messed up ECU, since I haven't been able to find a fault in the wiring (admittedly - I haven't taking the entire harness off the bike to look at it)?

You're on the right track. However, wiring seems more likely than ECU. Do you have a wiring schematic to post up?

I tried following down the wiring harness, and it joins most of the rest of the wires on the bike in a super bundle, which weaves down and around in places I can't really get to without taking apart a lot of the bike.

Update:

Tested each of the 4 wires for end-to-end resistance. They each had ~5 ohm resistance. This is expected and shows there are no faults (my multimeter gives ~5 ohm resistance when touching the electrodes to each other).

Only other possibility was broken ECU: ordered new ECU, installed it, went on my first ride in about 9 months today :D
