I've gone as much as three years on the belts on a Ducati that was ridden regularly. I always had Jim Davis of Nichols - and now Advanced Cycle Services - do my Ducati belts. The issue is that if the belt sits on a bike that is not ridden, it will develop a hard spot where it bends around the pulley and that's where they break. Jim has dealt with multiple engines that have had broken belts during his career as a Ducati mechanic.
I'm not looking for another Superbike, but if I were interested in yours I would be asking for new cam belts.
And thanks for the prompt reply. I hope you're able to find a buyer for that beautiful bike.
