I bought it at 24k in Apr 2010, and the miles are mostly highway/commute miles. I did a 5 day, 1400 mile ride to Baja a few months ago on the bike, and I'd hop on it and do it again right now. It's been a solid, reliable bike for me. I'm selling it because I bought a Multistrada and only really have room for 2 bikes.
The previous owner added a bunch of touring-friendly mods, and I did a few more things after I bought it
- Madstad adjustable windscreen bracket
- Additional touring (tall) windscreen. I mostly use the stock windscreen.
- Crash bars
- Skid plate
- Additional high seat (33" height - from a DL1000). I mostly use the stock seat (31" height).
- Heated grips (switch mounted to bracket on top triple clamp)
- Powerlet socket (mounted to bracket on top triple clamp)
- Givi monokey top case mount plate
- Fork brace (helped stabilize the bike A LOT, especially with highway rain grooves and cross winds)
- Front brake caliper adapters and brake calipers from a 2000 GSXR 600. (Much better feel compared to stock)
Last major service was at 61k miles at Werkstatt. Valves were adjusted, rear brake rotor and wheel bearings were replaced. Fork seals replaced and forks serviced at the same time. Next major service is at 75k.
New chain and front sprocket were replaced for the Baja trip at 68k miles (Rear sprocket didn't show much wear and I was admittedly kind of lazy. I have a new rear sprocket that I'll throw in). Tires are getting close to the end of their lives.
The bike is in San Jose right now, and unfortunately, I won't be around to show it until next week. I can also bring it up to SF for those of you who are interested up here.
