2 stroke AFMers - Gotta question

Okay, going over the rule book to figure out where my TZ250 and Aprilia RS250 (street prod bike) fit in, it appears that I can run the following:

Formula IV - Aprilia RS250
Formula II - TZ250
Formula I - TZ250
250SB - Aprilia RS250 (TZ250 not eligible?)
Formula Pacific - TZ250

Does this sound accurate? Need to know before I turn in my AFM entry card. Thanks.

And sorry for you AFM 2 strokers if this appears to be a stupid and oft asked question, but don't want to fcuk up my entry card. I'd post on the new AFM board, but the thing has appeared dead on arrival.

Yup, that's it. You got'em all right, and TZ250s are not eligible for 250SB.

You can run whatever bike you want in FP, but I wouldn't recommend a Formula Pacific race unless you are really really fast. (You can't actually run an FP race anyway until you can prove your laptimes are fast enough).

What's your consistent fast laps at Buttonwillow?

First time at Buttonwillow with my TZ was yesterday and ran 2:09's in heavy traffic. Went with the B group since I had never been there and only the 2nd time on my TZ, so stayed with the slow group. Probably take another 6 seconds off that time without all the traffic. Needless to say, I prob won't run FP for a while. 4 races is more than enough.

Besides, I'm a Novice and don't need to be a rolling chicane for the experts. :teeth

Umm, in the other thread 2 or 3 people told you what classes you can run with your bikes. Based on your lap times, do yourself a favor and don't run F1, and you won't makes the grid of F pacific your first year if ever. You have to meet the cut off time to make the grid, plus be lapping within 125% or less of the leader. And you will be black flag if you are going to be lapped.
At BW Fll fast guys are running 54-55s and 250 superbike guys are running 56-57s. Even on my Aprilia I got down to 57s. Don't bite off more then you can chew, and do 2 maybe 3 races at most. You'll enjoy your weekend more.

RacerX,
Thanks for the info. As I said, my first time at BW and second time actually riding the TZ. A few more times on the track and 1:55's will be attainable. Just a matter of learning the track and the bike. But I'll take your advice and stay out of Formula I... That will also save some wear on my TZ engine. :teeth

Also, with the Aprilia RS250 (and stock engine not making more than 60hp), you are doing 57's? I'll be at BW again next Monday this time just riding the Prila, so I need to get an idea of where I sould be by the end of the day. Thanks again for the info.

As for the other thread (I thought it was on the WSMC board and searched relentlessly for it yesterday, now I know why I couldn't find it.) So sorry, for the double post. My mistake.

Yes with the Aprilia I got in to 57s. Mine made 57-58 hp at the cup series. Actually the track is much better now with the repaving and the curbing in the eses. If you can get anywere near a 2 flat I'd be most impressed. If you did 2:03-2:05 you're doing good on the Aprilia.
As for getting 55s on the TZ, that 15 seconds will be tough, take little bites, and work on one thing at a time, and you'll drop your times.

RacerX,
Those 2:09 times with my TZ were with 40 other B groupers on the track. I got held up everwhere! And since I was in the B group I made sure my passes were safe, and usually around the outside. Most likely in a race, the times would be closer to 2:03-2:04, if not slightly lower, so 1:55, with some more time on the track is very realistic.
I have only ridden my Prila once at T-Hill back in October (bought the bike in England while I was racing there and brought it back to the States), so again, I'll be learning this bike as well. Decided to go with the Dunlop slicks soft compound (155 rear) on this bike. But with those times on the Prila, you're flying! I take it you are racing 250SB then, so I'd like to get pointers off ya, if you wouldn't mind. Thanks again for the advice. I'll see what kind of times I can get out of the Prila next Monday. Cheers.

Dunlop only makes those 155 rear slicke in a medium compound. You have to go up to a 165 for the softs.

I'm selling my Aprilia, and my spares if you need anything, let me know.

I'm probably mistaken then, cause I thought the Dunlop guy told me soft compound. But I usually ride only Pirelli, so Dunlop KR series are new to me. I wanted to give these a try and see how they feel. So were you running the 155 rear then?

If you are selling your Pirla, there are a few things I need. In particular I need another set of rear sets and always looking for additional brake and clutch levers.
