...I finally ordered up my supermoto conversion kit for the XR650r.:party:applause:banana:eboy now I'm playing the waiting game. Is it here yet?..is it here yet? Only thing I might have to get is another rear rotor so I don't have to switch it back and fourth between dirt and sumo rims.

So the wheels came with a rear disk but I'm going to have to get a new chain and cut it short for the little 40 tooth sprocket. It looks like it's going to rub on the tire too. Should I get a non oring chain so the chain won't be so fat. Don't really have to worry about dirt and mud when running sumo mode.

80% done. Going to build a shorter side stand tomorrow and reprogram the vapor computer for an accurate speed. Need to do a little more jetting now that I finalized the decorking with the airbox mod. Could use some new rear signals since one is full of mud and hard to see it flash. Gonna milk it around town for a reward days and let everything work in before I take it out for a real ride. I love the way it turned out. Need to lean the garage back up now (ol lady's bitchin')

Karbon

Hyper hoñorary
Ha! My buddy got the same sumo kit setup. The chain rub is due to tire and sidewall design. I have a 150/60 pirelli on the rear and have about an inch of space.

Might be worth it to get a 42-44 sprocket in the rear. Get decent top speed and more yutuuungg.

Thanks guys. Built a short kickstand out of scrap today. Kit came with a 40 Tooth karbon. It pulls it real nice. Can't wait to get some miles on it.

Ran out of space. Had more pics but they won't load. You get the idea though. Painted with red anodized paint.

Xrr needs a 150 tire or you rub.
Also, if you are going to track it get the suspension Set for sm. I didn't at first and it cost me an ambulance ride to the er with a concussion for ignoring Brok's warnings that my suspension could not handle the speed ( or I could not handle my stock suspension at speed, whatever, I got knocked the Fuck out and don't remember)

Enjoy.

I'm running Bridgestone battleaxe s20 tires rear is a 15/60/17 on 4.25 rim. They had 50 psi in them. They felt really hard so I rode it down to my shop and put a gauge on them. Dropped them to 30 each but don't know what the standards are for SM. Bikes are a lot lighter than sport bikes so I'd imagine it needs to be even less. Tires don't rub too bad with the standard chain. Was told the pirellis have a different shape that gives more room. I stiffened everything up front and rear on the suspension. Didn't want it getting all pogo-ey (new word) with the soft offroad settings. Now if I can just get my fat ass back into my leathers....

Thanks for the input. I'll take as much advise, warnings, stories, and lies as you all are willing to post.:thumbup

Sm tires can go into the 20s.
I am really surprised a 150 rubs, rims might have a funky offset.
Depending how hard you go, full adjustment of the stock stuff may not be enough on a track. Ease into it and back off if the bike behaves badly.
Have fun.
I miss my brp sm and doing 4 gear wheelies

She was a beauty Aug. Had a great ride today across 253, 128, Flynn creek rd, hwy1 up to Leggett. The beast really shines when the roads get real tight. I'm gonna need that stage 1 cam for the more open spots...lol
