So just around a year ago I was zipping around on my V4 Tuono and wondering what's next...
My V4 had been lovely (except for burning up two stators...thank you warranty!) but I wasnt feeling the joy for some reason.
I did some soul searching and V 2's kept wondering into my desires so I started researching....decent power, great handling, good components, easy on the eyes.
I new I didn't want an adventure bike and it had to be good on a twisty road.
Well of course, a V2 Tuono Factory to the rescue! Had it a year and am still enjoying the heck out of it, even had it to the track.:teeth
Then my lovely wife, Hyper Girl, get's the track day bug.
So I tell her "check out this sv 650 on Barf, it would make a good track day bike".
But is not what Hyper wanted..:nchantr
So , with her heart set on a R3 we find her a nice one with super low miles.
On the way to pick it up she asks me what would I chose for a track bike and once again I talk about the sv650 being a great choice.
Before the day is out she has contacted seller and surprised me with my second V2!:party
When I brought it home Hyper says "wait, haven't I seen this bike on our picture board?" . She wasnt far off, back in 03 I had bought a sv1000 the same color (I call it copper, Suzuki calls it burnt orange I think).
It had really good bones with a gsxr front end conversion, zx10 shock, Scotts steering damper and Woodcraft rearsets already on board.
It needed a few things and a bit of cleaning up (it was a daily rider in the city for previous owner).
Now that I have it sorted I cant believe how much fun for so little money can be had.
I am having twice as much fun on my twins (Fx2=4) and if it came down to it, I think I could be happy with just the SV.... but I do love the grunt and fancy bits on my T.

Of the nearly two dozen bikes that I've owned so far, none have had more than two cylinders. I do love the feel of a good V-twin. :thumbup

I am a firm proponent of V twins being the best power plant for a motorcycle, and Italians seem to make the best bikes(from a fun standpoint not a reliability one). However i would like to try out the V4s before I commit to my final judgement.

Thumpers are pretty good too.

Thumpers are pretty good too.

The 3 cylinder unit in the Rivale was the best. Big twins suck at low speeds.

Hmmm... I like my multi at slow speeds. Sometimes gearing is a little tall when in between 30 to 40 so you have to rev it out in first to be quick with it, but overall I am happy.

I've only had Ducatis with a big twin (1000+cc), and neither is fun under 35. YMMV
that has a lot to do with gearing: superbikes tend to have an outrageously tall first gear, so you end up using a lot of clutch at low speed

adventure bikes typically have a lower first gear to avoid that

Haaaaaaa! And we all know neither the fires of hell nor rabid zombies will keep her from what she wants!!:rofl

And the bit about being happy with "just" the SV? No. Sorry. That's your TRACK BIKE that your most-awesome wifey bought you. We will see you at the track and we will see you on the streets. And if space becomes an issue, you have friends with garage space. :thumbup

Harleys and cruisers too :) all good putting around at slow speeds.

My RC51 is stock gearing wise, and I know all about tall first gears.

True, but superbikes vs ADV bikes sometimes have very similar engines, while cruisers don't tend to share engines with either of those
