Check Kelly Blue book, NADA, CycleTrader, Ebay, Craigslist (even though some people on Craigslist are asking non-realistically high prices and will never be able to sell the bike at their asking price), and know what the current market value of a similar bike is before considering a purchase. Consider the maintenance work or fixes that YOU need to do to the bike, and factor that into the price. It is ok to pay more for a bike that has had all of the maintenance work done to it recently, or pay less and get a bike that needs some work, but you must know this in advance and be ok with it.
    • Inspecting the bike: if you are not experienced yourself, have a mechanic or an experienced friend check the bike before making a purchase. Crashed bikes:This is even more important if you are buying a bike that is being sold at a cheaper price with damages that the buyer is required to fix. In these cases, doing a frame check that will show any frame/fork/geometry damages is HIGHLY recommended. Do NOT simply rely on the information that the seller is providing, even he/she may not be aware of all the problems. Have the crashed bike checked and know what you are getting into.
    • Clean title, Salvage title A clean title doesn't mean the bike is free of serious issues. A Salvaged title doesn't mean the bike may have any problems. Every case is different. Some bikes are seriously damaged in a crash, but an insurance claim is never made on them, so they still have a clean title. Some bikes have had mostly cosmetic damages in a crash, but the insurance company decided to pay off the bike and salvage the title rather than spending the money to fix it. Know what you are getting into and don't make any assumptions based on what the seller is telling you.
    • Registration: Know about the current registration status of the bike. Check with DMV if you have any questions about any possible back fees and other title/registration questions (out of state title, no title with bill of sales only, etc.) before purchasing the bike.

    • Comments within a sale thread should be on topic and educational. Aggressive critiques and inside jokes will not be tolerated.     • If you disagree with a price, keep it to yourself. The seller has set the price. If you don't like it, don't buy it and move on. If you really feel strongly about it, then PM the seller.

1993 Rothmans NSR 250 NO LONGER FOR SALE

This is my 1993 Honda NSR250. It started life as a Rothmans edition. It has been recently re painted. This NSR is not stock. It has a set of Magtek magnesium wheels, a set of DogFight pipes, a HRC de-limiter black box, SP engine with a fresh top end (less than 500 miles 150 psi compression each cylinder) and a dry clutch, steel braided brake lines and the spare stock engine. This bike has just been completely gone through and is ready to go. It has a clean title and is currently registered and titled in California. It is sitting on a set of Michelin Pilot Race tires in excellent condition. This is one sweet NSR 250. I really do not want to let it go but I want to go racing. $5,250.00 OBO. Cash only. If you always wanted a Honda NSR here is your chance.

Well you might if you pose enough, and its a great bike if you like attention! Why buy any ol' f4i, r6 etc when you can get something really unique!!

NSR 250

I don't know how may miles are on the bike. The ODO says 7459 Kilometers. But there is no spedo cable. It did not come with one. When I got the bike the front cylinder was seized. I put in a SP motor that I got from Tyga. They freshened up the top end. There is 150 psi compression in each cylinder. I have run 4 tanks of gas through it since the motor swap. I took the compression readings last week.

Thanks!! I spent the last 2 months repainting it and going through it. It is a perfect track day bike. You can lean it all the way over until the pegs start grinding.

If i were to race this in AFM, what class would it be in since it has a different engine in it? 250 production or Forumula?

You'd race it in 250 Superbike along with the Aprilia RS250s and such.

It is not legal for 250P.

It is an MC21. Honda offered this bike in SE and SP configurations for this year. As I understand (but I could be wrong) the only difference was the SE had aluminum wheels and a wet clutch while the SP had magnesium wheels and a dry clutch. This bike has the Magtek magnesium wheels and a complete SP motor. This effectively makes this a MC21SP. There is definitely some untapped power left in this motor. It still has the stock air box with an un modified air box lid. If you modify the air box lid and fully re jet it (as I was going to do) and add a set of carbon fiber reeds you would realize a substantial increase in power. I hope this answers some questions.

actually there were 3 models of the mc21

R - wet clutch, aluminum wheels, and preload adjustability only.

SE - dry clutch, aluminum wheels, and fully adjustable suspension.

SP - dry racing clutch, magtek magnesium wheels, and fully adjustable suspension.
