Drive fast & take chances
Hello people,
I have 4 bikes and 3 need to go asap. The first in the list is my 1988 Honda Goldwing 1500SE. I know we have a lot of sportbikers on here, I'm one of them, but if you're like me and want to cruise in comfort or COMPLETELY change up your commute, this is the bike for you. Known as the cadillac of motorcycles, the Goldwing 1500 has one of the softest rides available. This one is going for cheap because it's not perfect, if it was it would be in the $8k+ range. Is it worth more than I'm asking, YES, but like I said, it has to go fast. I am doing everything one at a time, so the other items will be posted after this is gone.
About this bike:
This 1988 Goldwing sat for 7 years due to the previous owner being....unavailable. That's the reason it only has 24,160 miles on it. I bought it and fixed a lot of the little stuff that was wrong; bought new seat (original was torn, I have it and will throw it in if you want a spare for some reason), it had faded/peeling paint issue, so I put a very cheap black paint job, new starter, I had new front tire put on, replaced the radiators and some of the plastic, I bought a new windshield, some cool chrome pieces, and I also put in an amplifier and new speakers which run off the factory radio, so you still get to use the cool handlebar controls. And if you're a tech junkie like I am, there is iPad and iPhone mounts. The air ride works great, and it runs like a champ. With the new soft seat and comfortable air ride you can take a long cruise without the sore butt issues.
At this point you're probably wondering why it's priced a few thousand less than the other '88 Goldwings, well not all things are peachy; the water pump is leaking, not out, just leaking (watch the video which I recorded on my iPhone while attempting to ride around and hold the camera in my hand ). You can start it and ride around just fine, but when the water gets low, you'll run hot. It feels like the clutch is going out, it has a hydraulic clutch so it might just need bled, I don't have time to look into it, plus I have WAY too many things that are higher priority. Also the paint looks great in the pictures, but it was a very cheap paint job, so it looks not as perfect up close, it still looks good, but not as good as the pictures do. It's missing a couple little things like a pocket cover for a rear pocket (which you can buy on eBay for about $14), and some small trim that I planned on replacing with chrome pieces. I am selling a cbr 600, ninja 250, Land Rover, 69 Lincoln on 24s, Corolla, and other stuff also, so if this cadillac of motorcycles doesn't fit your bill, just ask about something else. Clean title in hand, ready for the new owner. For those looking at Goldwings, you know that there is a MAJOR difference between 1987 and 1988, that's why a 1987 Goldwing goes for about $1,100-$4,000 and the 1988 Goldwing sells for $4,500-$8,000. The 1988 1500 is a fantastic specimen of what a touring bike should be, now you can have one for the price of a 1200 Goldwing.
Price: $2,100
