15 Year Old SPIKE (Labrador Mix) Needs Help NOW

A poor sweet 15 year old Labrador doggy needs our help. He is at the Martinez shelter (4800 Imhoff Place, Martinez), surrendered due to "family issues"

He has some visible medical issues that come with old age, and he has some small tumors.

He might not have long left to live, poor old bugger :(

This might be his last Thanksgiving, Christmas and winter. He deserves to spend them in a nice warm home

Can you help him? Can you take him in and provide warmth and comfort for whatever time he has left??

His animal ID is A492339

Please help!

Thanks :)

Good luck Spike.

Our 15yo Beagle OD is still hanging. Heart meds. Spleen removal, several tumor removals etc. Still when I come home he drags himself up and comes over. Dogs are so much love.

drumroll please!!!!

So, Dani (horsepower) agreed to take this old bugger into her program, Hearts For Paws Rescue. However she isn't yet affiliated with Contra Costa Animal Services. I could have pulled him under Outcast Cat Help and done a rescue to rescue transfer (teeheee) but the foster I thought I had (until Dani could pick him up) fell through

So we did the only thing we could to get him out of the shelter on a Sunday. I adopted him :rofl Then John and I drove him to Dani in Davis and where we did an owner surrender to her organization. Dani already has an adopter for him who understands he might not have long left to live :love

Technically the shelter could demand the dog back, because I didn't tell the truth on the adoption contract. Morally I don't think they will exercise any "legal" recourse they might have. They know John and I are good peeps, and they know we would NEVER put an animal in harms' way :)

Oh, and the new director of the shelter is a "friend" of mine

Thanks Dani!!!!!! :love

Wendy & Dani for Sainthood!!!
I'm so glad to hear he has a home. I have a 14 yo rescue that I wish would live forever but I know she doesn't have a lot of time left. You guys are the best.
