I bought this bike from a friend and aside from rashed fairings it appears that nothing was obviously or severely damaged. I'm trying to power it up to see what's going on but can't get the bike powered up.
I hooked it up to the battery tender, and turned the key to the ON position. The cluster lit up signifying that it was getting power, but it was turning on/off intermittently and wasn't displaying anything on the cluster.
The headlight slowly powered on too (lowbeam), it dimly lit and took a full second before it reached it's peak brightness (still super dim). When i flicked the highbeam on, the power cut off completely. But since the battery hasn't been charged in awhile, it could be that it's completely 100% dead and not holding any charge. With the extra draw of the hi-beam, it might have sent feedback to the battery tender to set off the relay to cut power.
Is there a protocol after a tipover/accident to get the bike back into a 'ready' mode so I could troubleshoot further? It is due for an R/R recall, but I'd like to sort out a few things before taking it in for that.
-Starting with a new battery some time this coming week when I have time. :thumbup
