Hi I am posting this around to see if I can get some good feedback. its both a mechanical and subjuctive question/s

Hey all, Tim here . former racer anyway and maybe i should put this in the garage but i figure the people who really know the answers around the ik are here. i have been riding my bike stock except for the suspension as I figured not to do modifications just for the bling factor but wait til I have some reason to do so. I did just put on a brembo master and new sprockets both of which had immediate benefit but here is my question.

My bike has developed an issue with bogging when I am hard on the gas. it seems to be getting worse and only happens itermittently. When shifting from 3rd to 4th i upshift and click in and bwaaaaaaaaa. wtf nothing for a full second swometimes and then the power kicks in. it really fucks you up though. It doesnt act like the clutch and it only seems to do it in 4th gear. Some knowledgeable people have said i shoulod put it on a dyno and see if they can figure it out. The bike has around 6500 mies with proablyhalf on the street but is track only now. Soooo i think if I am going to invest in dyno time I shoulod probably put an exhaust on now too.tekka or power commander? I can get a yoshimura full system for around 950 with ss header which is only a couple of poundss heavier or a ti header for 1600. The leo vince is like 2200 dollars and would proably be wasted on my sory ass. Any recommendations appreciated and if you have any insight into my issue with the bog please let me know. Any help appreciated and I still love the AFM just as a spectator now
Note my new number

senor snog,
not that im an expert or anything but i have talked to a couple of people with the 05 ( i have one although ill probably be selling it soon) i think a pciii or having somebody like kc cager tune the bike with a tekka box even with the stock box can help quite a bit.
just my .02
talk to the guys from k@tt (wemyss or chris johnson, or raab) they can prolly give you some insight also
later

Snog-

I'd love to give you advice, but I never make it out of third gear on mine :p

Any changes to your air filter and what shape is it in?

You answered your own question: take it to a dyno- of course do it AFTER you get the exhaust.

Knock on wood- my 05 with the stock ECU (no engine mods: It's already st00pid fast as it is :toothless) hasn't had any bogging issues.

I havent even looked at the air filter but I would think if that were the case it would happen elsewhere than just fourth gear.
I will take a look in there this week . I am sure it is something that money can fix ha ha. i do have a hole in the stock exhaust from using it as a frame slider but i wouldnt htink that would cause huge problems. would it? I would look good in a sexy new exhaust anyway.. I just need to get thru the weekend and then i can mess with it. Sears this friday too yee ha

Clean the air filter and duct tape the exhaust and report back :toothless :p

I'm not aware of any running problems with the 2005 model. Do a pre-flight check of the basics- battery terminals, harness connectors, intake manifold clamps, kill switch function, sidestand switch function, etc. I just got done with a major project bike and added quite a few mods. The bike is a beast. :teeth

That sure is nice, I maybe will look at some rearsets over the winter as I have been grinding down the rear brake lever. I think i will be taking rob mesas last year micron off his hands and give that a try

i checked the air filter and while slightly grimy does not look as if it is relly munged up. inside of airbox looks clean as a whistle from what I see. after this weekend it goes to factory pro for a little tuneup and new/used exhaust from one of our racer friends who now has a better one. I guess i am going to find out what a tekka is.where can I get a high performance air filter on short notice? google is my friend

Perhaps at factory pro? :laughing

The tekka box just plugs into the stock ECU and reprograms the map- no power commander required. After they put the new/used pipe on take it for a spin and check for any flat spots.

i got antsy and ordered a bmc at indysuperbikes. second day air is expensive but i will have it for the weekend and it will just"appear" without any further footwork leaving me to concentrate on more important things. Like earning money to pay for all this stuff lol.

Tim, stop messing around and put some 16.5's on there. That or carbon, carbon's always good.
