Hi I am posting this around to see if I can get some good feedback. its both a mechanical and subjuctive question/s

Hey all, Tim here . former racer anyway and maybe i should put this in the garage but i figure the people who really know the answers around the ik are here. i have been riding my bike stock except for the suspension as I figured not to do modifications just for the bling factor but wait til I have some reason to do so. I did just put on a brembo master and new sprockets both of which had immediate benefit but here is my question.

My bike has developed an issue with bogging when I am hard on the gas. it seems to be getting worse and only happens itermittently. When shifting from 3rd to 4th i upshift and click in and bwaaaaaaaaa. wtf nothing for a full second swometimes and then the power kicks in. it really fucks you up though. It doesnt act like the clutch and it only seems to do it in 4th gear. Some knowledgeable people have said i shoulod put it on a dyno and see if they can figure it out. The bike has around 6500 mies with proablyhalf on the street but is track only now. Soooo i think if I am going to invest in dyno time I shoulod probably put an exhaust on now too.tekka or power commander? I can get a yoshimura full system for around 950 with ss header which is only a couple of poundss heavier or a ti header for 1600. The leo vince is like 2200 dollars and would proably be wasted on my sory ass. Any recommendations appreciated and if you have any insight into my issue with the bog please let me know. Any help appreciated and I still love the AFM just as a spectator now
Note my new number

Damn scary looking bike, Tim. All rattle can black and rider hanging off so far you can hardly see him. Neat pic.

O, the problem? Hmm. Checked you air filter for mung and junk?

I'm just part of hte peanut gallery but...

Sprocket sizes? RPM's at the shifting point? Only fourth, what about 2 to 3rd?

Catalytic converter issues? Maybe you melted the fooker or got some leaded fuel out of a can from someone.

I'm having the same issue with my 600rr I go out the first session and in the middle of it on the straight it just loses power. I'm thinking it has to do with the U4 I left in too long after a track day and must have done something to the injectors. I'm gonna take it in to have it checked out tho, it needs a good look over.

Tim,

Does the 1k have a set valve in the stock exhaust. There's an issue with the 06 600/750 that causes the FI light to go on, but I've also noticed a lag in throttle response, especially when transitioning from off to WOT. Solution with the 600/750 has been to pull the servo motor and cable that controls the valve (default is open) and necessitating pulling a wire from the ECU. You would have to do this anyway if putting a full system in, but has proved effective on the stock exhaust as well. Its one of the next things I will be doing to my bike.

Just a thought for you to check out.

Not yet. Raced the first Sears round, then sold the RR for a song in early May. Took two+ months to get rid of the SV1k and another 2 months avoiding going into debt while building it up. Almost have it ready now (still need to do fr.susp over the winter) but running short on cash for other reasons (i.e. home improvement).

I've had it on track in stock form (incl. tires :wow) to almost modded three times and have a blast on it. But the way funds are going, I'm probably going to miss the rest of the race season.

Tis ok, I need the track time to get used to this thing, its a stonking good time...more trackdays before racin'it. :teeth

Had some scary problems with a GSXR1000K1 when it was about two years old which was similair to the bog that you are talking about. It was the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) sticking but it occurred in all gears, some worse than others.

The only thing on the bike that would tell the ECU what gear you are in (if it is only gear related as you say) is the GPS (Gear Position Sensor) - to isolate the problem either isolate the GPS or strap up the pink wire to the ECU (I think it is still the same colour on the newer ECU wiring harness) via a resistor to GND to trick the ECU it is in 5th gear (full power). Look in the manual or measure the resistance to GND of the GPS to work out the value of the resistor.

Good Luck

It must have been the air filter as I had no problems at Fernley. The old one didnt look bad but ,,,,, who knows? Well I needed an excuse to put an exhaust on and get it serviced anyway djoh
