Like I said before, I wasn't super familiar with his work and am more observing the conflicting statements here.
In my experience, racists usually proudly claim it and have the Black Panther or Lightning Bolt tattoos to show it off.
Most of the shit confused people on the left like to pretend is racist is cultural intolerance and not remotely based on race. :dunno

But most of the time, you are just a plain old bigot. I listened to Rush a lot in the late '90s, and even then he was an off the leash bigot and misogynist. It was a bit difficult to tell if he was merely playing a role or not, but his ditto heads certainly weren't. They were eating it up.

Oh, I think there can be no question that on some level he was a bigot, I think his rhetoric as described makes it pretty clear.
However a bigot is not necessarily a racist and when identifying a problem, accuracy of language matters when attempting to identify a solution.
You are confusing attempts to refute your hostility towards him with defending his identity or behavior.
I am not particularly interested in him, I am however deeply interested in the community here on BARF and the social boundaries around how it functions.
