I know I'm not supposed to laugh, but after yesterday's fiasco with the various phone lines and websites regarding vax appointments, I'm in a mirthy mood.
Telephones. Yeah. Preferred method of communication for business and personal transactions of the 20th century. Oh wait, it's the 21st century.
Getting stories left and right about various waits and such. One friend waited a hour for Kaiser in SF. They not only couldn't find her membership (she's had it for years) but they told her they darn ran out of vax for SF. Gave her a new number to try on Monday (you know, "our menu has changed so please....).
It's almost like we didn't have 9 months to think about the day a vaccine was available, and about a month and a half since we knew they were coming for sure.
MS. BA's 92 year old uncle's wife sat on the phone for several hours. Scored an appointment too. In MID FEBRUARY. Nice.
California is 43rd in vaxxing rates thus far. The Tech State. The smart state.
My CEO tried to get the county to agree to house vax sites for the retirement community where I work. They weren't interested for...reasons. Then, after yesterday, they are suddenly interested and tried to set it up in 10 days. No problem to vax 9,000 people in one day, right? After all, they have two sites and people are only supposed to hang around for 15 minutes after to have their reaction or not. Math. It's frickin hilarious.
Putting on KS so please don't mention certain figures by name or inference.
