It’s hard to believe that Robbie has passed. He was a stand up guy with a solid business, a real pillar in the MC community. We miss you, bro! You’ll always be my MotoTireGuy. ❤️

Alas, life moves on and I need a new set of tires. Who installed your fresh rubber in the post-Robbie era?

Santa Clara Cycle Accessories. Market pricing, open 6 days (closed Sun), fast, courteous service and BARF sponsor. I have yet to anyone that can compete when it comes to tires.

Monday called, got quote, ordered tire. Pricing was same with everyone else (even online). Factor in FREE mounting and balancing and it's a no-brainer.

Wednesday Doug called to say tire was delivered. Dropped off my rim Wednesday 6:30pm.

Thursday lunchtime I picked up my wheel. They can sometimes do the work while I wait if I call ahead.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.

Anyone else? I really liked Robbies ‘order your own tires and I install them’ business model.

Santa Clara Cycles still install tires. Look them up online, it's usually pretty fast.

I’m planning on giving Berkeley Performance Motorcycle a shot. They are down with customers ordering tires and having them shipped to their shop on Gilman.

I’ll be getting a set installed in the next month or so . I’ll report back.

Does anyone have recs for east bay?

Just used Meteor in Oakland for a rear tire change (brought both tire and wheel in). Great service!

However, I would LOVE a service like Robbie’s in the East Bay. Missing Robbie...

No complaints with cycle gear Pacheco. Of course I order my tires through them as well so the install is only $25. I just pull the wheels off at my house, drop it off in the am when they open and pick up in the evening or the next day usually. Nice group of guys in there as well.

I always liked MotoWRX. Or Cycle Gear.

I haven't gone to Cycle Gear since 2005 when they somehow "lost" the bearing spacer in my rear wheel. I didn't notice until I reinstalled said wheel and it seemed to take far more turns on the axle nut than usual. I lived in Oakland at the time and this happened at the SF store. Needless to say I had a one-sided conversation with the store manager and lo, the spacer in question suddenly re-appeared. Now this is a part that is normally trapped within the hub between the wheel bearings...how the tech (who was fired btw) managed to remove it, I'll never know.

I think the first time I took wheels in to get new tires I left the spacer on there. I've since learned to remove all of them before going for new tires.

Now its Santa Clara Cycles. You can drop off the wheel or the bike. Rear wheel is easy on the BMW, front still ok.

R3DS!X

Whatever that means
I can do sport bike tires in daly city if folks need. 30 bucks a pop. my availability is kinda limited tho
