Would you buy a used moto jacket right now?

Craigslist has a Helite air bag adventure jacket listed for $580, they're $939 new and I'm sure there is some wiggle room on the asking price of $580. What a deal to be had on one of the safest jackets available.
The problem is Covid concerns - Goodwill has restricted donations, if you buy new clothing at most stores it can't be returned due to health concerns. I was at Costco this morning and you can't even sit on the couches they have for sale due to Covid.
So would any of you buy a used jacket these days? I thought about asking the guy if he could get the jacket professionally cleaned first but the air bag unit has to be removed first and that's tricky to do.

Yes I would buy it if it fit and i was in the market.

Why not reduce the price enough to get it dry cleaned yourself.

Stores are following the state of California protocol because if they don’t the state will shut them down. Ask the bars!

And if it was up to the nanny state and health department you would not be able to ride a motorcycle, dive a gas car, buy a gun or ammo or .............

Per the CDC - Coronaviruses on surfaces and objects naturally die within hours to days. Warmer temperatures and exposure to sunlight will
reduce the time the virus survives on surfaces and objects.

If you want to be super careful try it on wear a long sleeve shirt and remove after confirming fitment. Wash your hands, take a shower, don't touch your eyes or mouth.

If you buy it toss it in a trash bag and forget about it for a week.

Great ideas guys! I've been considering an air bag vest for some time now but never considered a jacket due to cost. Amazon has a Hit Air vest for $519 which goes over the jacket but who wouldn't want a jacket with the air bag built in? For about the same price? I'm so tempted

I would buy almost anything used except gloves, helmets and shoes. And yes, dryclean the crap out of the jacket/suit. Some people sweat like there's no tomorrow.

You could also ask if they've been using it recently or if it's been sitting in the closet unused for a while.

Too much lean angle...
Double check the size chart, the cut on my Helite Free Air Jacket has a short waist so a Large fits me perfectly when I'm a size M.

Absolutely but I have 3 jackets and a riding suit. If you are afraid of getting the virus from the jacket here is some info: the virus dies in 24-48 hours from surfaces so you can leave it outside for 2 days (a virus is not like a cell with membranes so is like if you had no skin).
There isn’t much data about people getting the virus from clothing so I would say is very unlikely to get it from there.
Now...let’s say one in one million would get it from clothes. Leave it outside and spray the whole thing with Lysol or wash it in warm water.

If you don’t buy that jacket there is more risk of getting the virus from a down slide than from the jacket itself. Lol

Lets go fishing!
I recently bought leathers. Just make sure no one has touched the items for 24hrs.

I am the same as toaster... I think buying used gloves, shoes, and helmets are gross... For me, mainly gloves! Lol! Imagine someone stopping at a gas station after a decent ride. They are struggling to take off their gloves because their hands are sweaty. They top off their gas and then notice a taco truck at the end of the parking lot... Now they are getting greasy taco juices all over their hands. They go inside the corner store only to find out the restrooms are out of order. Now they are pissing between the dumpsters (better hope they aren't messy shakers)... AND now the moist gloves go back on their dirty hands. Now imagine this happening majority of the time they ride for a few years.

I think the same thing whenever I used gloves for sale. Yucky stuff inside there and no way to clean it out.

Well guys I’m going to err on the side of caution and not get that jacket on Craigslist. Heck of a deal but my elderly in laws live with us and I can’t take the chance. I’ll get an air bag vest instead.

I would just wash it and you should be fine. Or yeah put it in a trash bag like Demoni mentioned and leave it in a hot car. It'll bake that Rona good.

Yup, this. Just leave it hanging in your closet for a couple days and the virus will be ineffective.
