Working out, time to get serious again

So, I work at a gym. A climbing gym. You would think, wow, she must be in great shape and climb a lot..... :|
I get a PM from Jen after we had mostly WALKED a 5k a couple of weeks ago and she says she needs help getting motivated.
I started working out again two days ago, with the intention of pushing myself and getting back in shape, not just going through the same old routine. So here I am about to document, and encourage you to document your workouts. It helps. IT DOES! SO DOOOOO ET!
I'm going to edit my posts so they hold a week of workout voodoo.
Do my stuff, or do your stuff and we can look and see what works.
I have a build that gains muscle pretty easy, my circulation is for shyte and I just quit smokin mid Dec so my wind... suks :twofinger
I just started dirt bikin so I'm going to throw in stuff that I saw in another thread into my workout too. Good luck and Get-er-done! :thumbup

P.S. I am of the opinion that stretching cold muscles and ligaments is dumb, I stretch mid workout and post workout. Also, I am not looking to bulk up, just strengthen and lean down a bit and get my freaking wind back :teeth

Monday 12/31/12- 1 set of: 18 leg extension reps @ 60lbs. 20 standing calf lifts w/60lbs added. 18 sitting leg curls @ 75lbs. 20 pull downs don't remember the weight alternate looking left to right so I don't bang my nose nor lean back and use bad form. 10 bicep curls @ 12lbs, then 10 more alternating arms and adding twist. Abs: twist stretches to align spine. 50 crunches bent legs. 10 leg lifts from the ground at an angle each side. 50 crunches straight leg. 30 min elliptical. minor stretching, cuz I was pressed for time and I am not always smart. :p

Tuesday 1/1/13- TRX: random reps as I am still figuring out this system. A lot (20+) of squats with some straight arm, some bent. Incline pushups (I suck at these, hate them). Lunges with arms open/arms up. Twisty stretches. Spinning bike to get wind back, alternating standing with a lot of resistance to sitting with a little resistance. Elliptical for 10 min. Floor stretches with some yoga stuff and old track stretches. Hip flexor stretches on the balance ball.

Wed 1/2/13- Light day, legs are just perfectly sore, not crippled, but it hurts a bit to move. So today was 10min on the elliptical, just enough to get nice and warm and get the blood flowing, and some stretching.

Thurs 1/3/13- not a crunch was done. Slackassed. :thumbdown

Fri 1/4/13- Worked from home, so workout was home/project driven. I dug a 12 inch deep 6 in wide trench aprox 30 feet long for starting a new french drain. Got my full body sweat, alternated hands as much as possible (still right hand got a blister... oh well). Also used the post hole digger to remove rocks and mud from the dry well that is not dry. I will be sore tomorrow, le grin.

Sat 1/5/13- No workout.

Gee, if there only was some sort of BARF's biggest loser thread where people could share notes, workouts, and weight loss goals and accomplishments.... :rolleyes :laughing

1/1 = 6 hours pushing broom/shoveling horse shit

I got a Nike Fuel band for Christmas. Been hitting the goal I set regularly since it reminds me how far I've gone.

Sal! Do some bouldering and climbing... Great way to lose weight. When I did that on a regular basis, I was in pretty good shape... :)

Take advantage of your work benefits! :teeth

Yes, thanks, that never occurred to me. :| :laughing My 2 regularish climbing partners moved and got into diff sports and I don't like bouldering alone. I can work out whenever I want/get done with work, AND I don't have to organize meeting people and accommodating their schedule. Most people work diff hrs than I and I am going to use the perk of the equip I have at hand, not meet at another gym or wait around till they get off work to meet. Plus, working out w/others really doesn't work for me, never had a good workout partner. A good climbing partner, that is different, but not easily found and schedule-able. :teeth

I remember you told me you were at the Belmont gym more often? Maybe we can go bouldering sometime... Last time I went bouldering was at the Belmont gym, soooo out of shape I could barely get up a 5.8. I still probably can't. :rofl but I'd like to start going regularly again...

The Sunnyvale gym is more accessible for me, but I can get up to the Belmont gym too... Whatchathink?

Yes, I can belay with an ATC or a grigri. Although I haven't taken the test at your gym. Used to have the belay card for Mission Cliffs, lost the card though. :laughing

Bouldering is my way of starting slow. :) have to check if I can still fit in my harness... :rofl

5k in 38 minutes, walking at 3.5 and jogging at 5.8 every other half mile.

10 reps on 8 machines at 70 lbs

Was going to do another 5k but my knee started bothering me after about a mile.

I've done nothing. Neck is tweaked.

Been kicking ass sticking to the new diet however. :banana

Wot's the diet?

I'm still having problems with portion control. Biggest thing that's helped was to stop eating from the big plates and just use a small bowl. If I can't fit it in there then I can't eat it. :dunno

It's amazing how small you can cut steak to maximize the space of a soup bowl :facepalm
