Commuting home in the dark tonight, in my car, I come across a landscaper with a big aluminum orchard style ladder in the back of his pickup. As I get closer I notice he has a commercial lawnmower sideways in the back right corner of the bed with the black push handle sticking 2 1/2 feet out into the space between the number 1 & 2 lanes. This is exactly what can catch someone splitting off guard. The end of the handle was about visor level. Be careful out there folks.

Had a similar one a few months back, a metal pole sticking out maybe 3-4ft from the bed of the truck at a 45deg angle. Damn near jousted me off the bike.

I can't ever figure out why the carpet dudes don't either buy longer vans or the carpet people make shorter rolls. ...like a ratty ole faded red hanky tied onto the 4 feet of Stainmaster you have hanging out there really makes a difference. A couple of times I've come up on these guys in the morning when I'm switching lanes only to realize I didn't have quite the gap I thought I was going to have to slip into!
