Wireless printing from android phone

I'd like the ability to print documents from my phone.

Here is what I currently have:

Older USB Brothers printer with no WiFi ability which is wired to a computer that spends most of its time turned off. I do not wish to leave the computer on. Wireless home network with no router or modem near the printer.

Will a wireless print server solve this? Does it just plug into the printer and my phone will recognize it once on the network?

I wouldn't count on it. I have a wireless printer and my S5 doesn't see it... have not bothered to fight that battle yet since I tend to use the computer for things that matter.

Might also depend on what app you are trying to print from. Try a web search including "android", "print" and the app name.

This. HP Officejet 5740 with wireless turned on and on home domain. My Samsung Galaxy S5 sees it without any problems & prints using the HP Print Service plugin. :party :thumbup

If your printer is constantly on and connected to a wireless print server router, you should have no problem printing.

However... how much memory is in the printer? How big are the print jobs you will be sending to the printer? It just may be worth getting a wireless-capable printer.

Cheap printers are all over the place - Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, etc. Printers are cheap, ink cartridges are where they make $$$.
