Why we Age (and Die)

pretty interesting information

7th day adventists average lifespan is 88 years, about 8 years longer than the average US citizen.

this religion encourages regular exercise, vegetariansim and avoiding alcohol and smoking.

And also lead very boring lives. Living eight years longer at the expense of all the things that make life fun isn't even worth it. I'd rather be dead.

i think a more viable option for longevity is to enroll in a cryonics program that will preserve your body after you die until technology is sufficient enough to reanimate you.

ive always been interested in caloric restrictions to prolong life. it makes sense that women live longer than men and they are also more likely to participate in fasting (albeit for vanity and not wellbeing, but whatever). there was a documentary on bbc about calorie restriction that was super fascinating. let me see if i can find it

edit: here it is. about an hour long but well worth the watch. it changed my eating habits forever.

Why do you assume, that should the no doubt extremely expensive tech becomes available, they (who ever they may be) will have any desire to resurrect many century old corpsicles who won't speak the current language, have no idea of the current social mores, and are broke?

i would hope within 100-200 years we would be still speaking the same language, seeing as english has been the lingua franca for longer than that.

also, there are different levels of consciousness that they discuss with you before you enroll into the program and a life insurance plan that pays for the expenses of cryogenic maintenance and reanimation.

i mean, if you dont give a shit to see how the world turns out in a few hundred years, by all means, go and rot in the ground. i for one want to be a part of the future because i really like living. even if enrolling in a cryonics program gives you a 1% chance at being able to see what the future holds, isnt it worth it?

its not for everyone. some people want to die because they dont want to wake up one day and all their loved ones will be gone, but i have a different outlook on the situation and i would prefer to live forever; even if my consciousness is confined to a computer program and not a fully functional organic being.

Mymom lives on Granola and Saltine crackers. She's going on 90 and still drives her car and gets around pretty good. But I like food too much to follow her lead. I guess I'll die fat with a smile on my face.

I am not weird, you are.
Live life to the fullest and you won't worry about death. You'll welcome the chance to rest.
