Why are supermoto boots hard to find?

I currently wear Gaerne. Used to use Axo.
Pay big dollars for the SIDIs with the replaceable soles or get one of the bolt-on/glue-on sole kits from Gaerne.
Cheapest option is to use silicone solution but you have to be French...and crazy. Actually it works well.

Good thread. I just learned about the SIDI supermoto soles due to this thread.

Wondering if they attach to both the roadrace boots and the dirt boots. I don't want to buy the crossfire boots. Will be cool if these soles can be screwed to the Vortice.

The soles only fit the Crossfire SRS Off-road boots. They use these pins that turn (similar to dzus fasteners) and the bottom of the SRS boot is made specifically to accept them as are the replaceable soles. Its a slick set up.
They are excellent boots. Very comfortable and break-in of less than an hour (in my case). They are also very expensive. You can look for used ones or closeouts of odd colors but they go really fast in the popular sizes. I like them so much that I have another pair of Crossfires (non-SRS) for dirt track which I bought very lightly used out of the BARF classifieds for about 1/3 the price of new. Deals are out there.
As I mentioned above, you can add a slider kit to existing boots or make your own. I've seen people use plastic cutting board material from Tap Plastics. The cutting board material can be very slippery to walk in. Don't want to fall walking around the paddock before you even get a chance to crash on the track. :laughing

Oh cool. The reason I wanted to skip buying crossfire is because I already have two pairs of Vortices and wanetd to use one for sumo. I'll try the cutting board sliders on left foot first.

Where do they have the SRS to try on? Live in the south bay and haven't been able to find a single shop that carries them.

+10 for Sidi Crossfires SRS. Saved my ankles when I blasted a guard rail on my 690 SMC. I switch the soles back to regular when I ride my big KTM. Pricey but worth every penny. Buy once and cry once. Had the SRS and they were a great SM boot. I put them into real dirt duty and the reduced sole perimeter (vs the crossfires) didn't protect the inner side of the kick starter foot from the peg. Tore the plastic foot strap out from the sole....boots are pretty much a goner.
Crossfires have been GTG in the dirt though, excellent fit and protection.
Scuderia used to have them stocked for sizing, they run a little narrow but not bad.
