Who would've guessed installing engine guards was so iffy

Simple job of installing my engine guards is turning into a hassle. The lower engine mounting bolts in the package were supposed to be 10mm shorter than what I received. So back go the original bolts into the bike until they send me the right bolts, I go to home depot, or cut the too long bolts.

got curious about how delicate mounting hole threads. Going down the google rabbit hole led me to a surprising number of people that stripped their engine mount hole threads, messing around with engine guards/sliders. I don't think I'm close to doing that...: |

Obviously you need to try harder. Sounds like you're missing out on the sum total of the experience if you're not stripping out something.

We teach our apprentices, “if you’re not breaking stuff, you’re not trying hard enough”. Seriously though, I can’t find the sliders that are frame mounted for my bike. No one makes them any more. I have sliders that are actually bolted to the motor mount. They already saved the engine during a drop, but I know any kind of real hit or slide and my motor mounts are f**cked.
