Where to get a moto weighed?

I'm curious if anyone has any good suggestions on where to get a motorcycle weighed? I've thought about using a bathroom scale, but would like something a little more accurate and less wonky. Anyway, thought I'd ask if anyone has a more reliable way to get bikes weighed. Perhaps a warehouse facility?

Any yard that sells landscaping material.

Good idea. There is a landscape supply very close. I'll stop by and see what they say.

Just get a couple of bathroom scales...

Of course I've already considered this... except that my bathroom scale is kinda crappy so not sure if I trust it or if it will even work.

Thanks for the suggestions.:thumbup

In the interests of science, if you're gonna go to another place to get your bike weighed AND you have a bathroom scale that may or may not be accurate, it would be interesting to do both measurements and see how they compare.

Why don't you upgrade your bathroom scale slightly?

I use the state-monitored moving company scale at 2195 Leghorn St. in Mountain View. It is at Atlas Van Lines. It weighs to the nearest 20 pounds, which is fine for cars but may not be as exact as you want for a bike.

This an open scale next to the train tracks with a digital read out across the street. I don't know whose property it is, but it would give you an idea for what your bike weighs. Although looking up your bikes specs would be easier? If you're weighing various add ons like luggage, just hold it on a scale at home.

I also looked at google maps and as of Feb 2020, someone blocked it with cardboard bales, but you can maneuver the bike around them.

Quick update... I used my crappy bathroom scale and the results are 152/129 front/rear for 281 total (includes about a gallon of fuel).

Yep, already thinking this :thumbup

Triple S Metal has been recommended by another BARF'r off-line. I'll give them a try.

Sorry, but I gotta laugh as you don't know me very well... my screen name is a good hint.

I just looked at this on Google street view. This would certainly be very convenient if not so far from home (Livermore), and no way of knowing if the read-out would be turned on when I arrive. Thanks for the suggestion.

Actually, one other idea. You could test your home scale by weighing a known entity. If you pour a liter of water, that should be 1 kg. How about testing your bathroom scale accuracy with a few jugs of water before you rule it out?

This is starting to feel like one of the Car Talk puzzlers.

Which is why the question is puzzling to me. I'd expect you to ask where you can get replacement scales.

There are some fairly inexpensive crane/hoist scales on ebay. Or, I'm planning to build a load ring gauge.

Oh, and if you're mechanically inclined, as you seem to be, you can make your own scale with known weights and some snatch blocks!

Hah... you guys are killing me. One thing I try NOT to do is make things if they already exist. I've already got way too many projects to start another. In this case I just need to find an industrial scale in my area with public access and go to it. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Stand on bathroom scale and record weight
Pick up motorcycle
