Where do you mount your GoPro and Phone for trackdays?

I’m interested to know where and how you like to mount your camera on the bike. And how you mount phones running track apps.

How do you secure it with a second safety strap?

For that matter I’m interested in hearing what camera you like as well. I have a GoPro 4 that stopped working and am ready to buy something that can easily embed some on screen data and a track map if easy.

I have tried mounting on the front with a bracket off the axle pinch bolts but you get a lot of tire in the shot.

I also really would love to acquire the sound as I hear it. I was thinking of getting a remote mic. Anyone try that?
What do you like?

Phone? Seriously? I can barely deal with phone calls when I am making toast.

For my iPhone I use an inexpensive bar mount from eBay, the type that has an "X shape" rubber that stretches over each of the phones corners. It is very secure to the cradle. But cradle to mount not 100% fool proof secure so I have a tether on it. I use Harry's Lap Timer app.

Note: I use an old iPhone 6 as many have had the cameras fail in their current phones from the vibration. You can get an old iPhone for $50 if you don't have one sitting around and not brick yours.

Thanks. The reason for the phone is not for calls LOL. There are some track apps that show braking, Accel, speed, etc.

And can do overlays for video - I’m just not sure what the apps are that are good.

harry's laptimer with an external bluetooth GPS works well for me when i was starting out... i still loan the setup out to friends when needed...

I used heavy 15-20lb velcro to velcro both to the bike tail section or tank.

Note, i would not try to be looking at the phone while riding i found it inconvenient

i have since upgraded to the motod next laptimer and then to the aim mxk dash with built in data logging and laptiming which are easier to see laptimes at a glance.
