When is "Dirt bike" season?

If there is one..

I am leaning towards fall/spring as there is more rain. And well...

Dirt Bikes + Mud = :teeth :teeth :teeth

A coworker of mine said summer, and I was like uh, riding in dust = :barf

You'll never get me on a "drit" bike. I hate drit. I used to play in drit when I was little, but not anymore. if I even see one spec of drit on my bike I freak out.

Drit bike season is definitely the rainy season. Summer is street bike time. Anybody who didn't ride drit today missed out. The conditions were perfect.:cool

Seriously, I need a dirtbike. Just made my post for a cheapo one in the classified section.

Dirt is just hella fun, you can crash and jump. And it doesnt matter most of the time! Worst I've done on a dirtbike is bent bars coming down the huge double at hangtown, when i was like 13...

For me it's year round. Only times I don't like to ride is when the mud is really wet and sloppy or when it's really hot. A couple days after a rain is perfect.

BTW, if you are buying a dirt bike, make sure that you know whether you are buying a red or green sticker bike. Certain places, like Hollister, have restrictions on when red sticker bikes are allowed to be operated, making the "season" shorter.

Damn, really? Just like no waverunners in tahoe!

EPA laws are retarded. Statistically, motorcycles and watercraft represent a tiny majority of the air pollution created. Politics are great eh?

Holeshot: I'm checking out cycletrader.com right now for something...$750 would be ideal, damn school loans to pay off..

One more reason why I will prolly not be gettin in the dirt anymore- mandatory sound checks. Starting new years rangers will be enforcing new sound laws at most/all OHV parks. Its something like 95-101 dB depending on the year and type of dirtbike. Racebikes are allowed the higher output, but enduro/trail bikes must meet the lower one. GAY!!!
Big :finger to the eco-nazis out there

My friend just got a 03 YZ 450 F. It is a 4 stroke, loud as hell, even stock. He got caught at hollister and had to do a DB check. It rang in at 99. Eventually he will have to get a silencer, to be lagal it has to be 96db's or lower.

I have a white brothers pipe that has a series of plates that can be removed to change the loudness/exhaust flow. I will most likely end up adding back a few plates one day as they get more stringent on the noise requirements.

I think adding discs actually makes it louder by reducing the backpressure.

It is NOW!!!

I just picked up a used one the other week. KTM EXC 440.
I was out at Hollister hills the weekend before last. I didnt see any rangers checking noise levels or anything.

I cant wait to hit the hills this next weekend. Im going to check out Metcalf.

the thing with the sound is, once you get checked out, you are good for quite a while. my dad and brother both have ktm 200 excs (99) and came way in under the limit. when u pass, the give you a sticker and u put it on the bike, kinda like a green sticky. if you are looking for a bike for 750 bucks, you are gunna be looking at some mid 80s bikes, i would just save yourself in the end and put at LEAST 1500 into a bike. red stickies only come into play if u have a very new bike, 99 or newer i think, but correct me if i am wrong. with a red sticker you can only ride during half the year, the winter end of things. it is possible to get around red stickers via a number of ways, such as owning a 1925 ghetto bike, and just taking the green sticker off of that and putting it on the new bike. i have a 2001, and the guy who i got it from just said the dmv didnt say anything about it and gave him green. it is still in sketchy mode, so u will have to talk to people at dmv to get things right. but let me know when you get a bike, we will go tear it up fosho.
