What did you do to prep for Baja today?

Hmmm..... never considered you were trying to replace without removing the cover and shaft. :laughing The extra 10 minutes might have made the job easier. Good to hear its out and replaced! :thumbup

Actually the cover was off but the shaft doesn't wanna come out, it's a weird design. Even after I got the seal out I couldn't understand how the shaft comes out.

It may not be obvious from the photo but the shaft isn't designed to drop out the bottom even with the cover off.

Hard to tell from that awesome pic :twofinger :laughing but if it doesn't go down then it must go up. Maybe it just need a little persuading.

Ha, yeah not my pic. I didn't take a picture of the inside cover. I didn't want to "persuade" it too much or I might be buying another clutch cover :p

Probably a good call. It's an interesting design for sure. I wonder if those teeth on the pinion ever break. The xrr pinion has a machined surface that when turned moves a rod to release the clutch. As I recall it's also held in by the seal but it didn't need any persuading to come out when I replaced the bearing and seal last year but then again the housing was smashed from the chain snapping and taking it out. :wtf

That is interesting. Looking at the schematics, it goes seal, washer, bearing, then case cover. So it definitely comes out from the top. I wonder if there is a shoulder on the pinion rod below the bearing? All academic now with the new seal in place. :thumbup

Is that a single sided fork on that bike? Pretty cool!

Yes, it is a Cannondale Prophet with a 140MM travel Lefty.

It was a steep and slippery descent so my son had his phone out to document the endo. I let him down and made it. :ride:party

My Baja Prep this week consisted of the purchase of some transport assistance in the form of a trailer.

Booom! And much needed assistance for the group. :thumbup That looks like a proper trailer. HD construction, big wheels, and three rails. Fricken sweet Michael.

Yeah totally, but the wheels are only 13" so I'm going to see how it does on the Stony trip. I might look into getting 15's for it.

I cant imagine the 13's wont be more than sufficient. Danial has the same 12's on his three rail as I have my HF (obviously his is a much higher end better built trailer than mine - but same rims). The 12's seem to work just fine for the past few years going to Baja and back. I hear they do fine exceeding the speed limit by a good bit too. Some guys were testing them at 85 + on Hwy 5 I heard. Its what I heard at least.... :x

Unless of course you are thinking of chase vehicle duties offroad...

I think my real concern and maybe the group might know, but are the 13" a hard size to find when you're on the road or common size?

I am sooo jealous! You actually have room to store that? I've been waiting to pull the trigger on a harbor freight folding trailer, but even that will be hard for me to store.
