Welcome to the Riders on the Mend Forum, created to help our fellow riders who have had the misfortune to be seriously injured.
This is about dealing with the healing on a physical (as well as mental and emotional) level, the insurance, the lawyers, the medical-industrial complex, physical therapy, dealing with the fear of getting back on the bike, dealing with the grief of never being able to ride again.
Focus would be on recovery and a place to voice your/their story(ies) or just to vent in a setting where people understand your/their particular loss.
Sharing any valuable resources during rehabilitation and living with a life-changing event is encouraged.
This forum is not for postwhoring or arguments; stronger action will be taken against that sort of activity. The Mod core sees it as another useful way to support our community and I hope that respect for others is shown when posting here.
We have one of our fellow members to thank for its creation as it came out of his vision of being something special for others in a place similar to where he has found himself after his accident - and I applaud that in a big way. :applause
His resilience in a difficult situation has been amazing! I would like to introduce Carries An Axe / Adam as a Moderator for this forum.
Another man that lived through one of the most notable incidents here on Barf is its other Moderator, Ozymandias / Paul, who received the first ever Barf "Cheated Death Award" and also had to adjust to his injuries, bouncing back with the help of some Barf members.
I think both these guys will have something valuable to share. (The name links point to their respective stories.)
The outpouring of compassion by many of you is something special and I hope it will continue.
We as riders know that we could be hurt doing what we love... so we share a bond which brings out efforts to help and support, whether just words of encouragement, sending healing thoughts, paying visits, cooking food, or other ways.
Lots of great people here on Barf. ort
Enjoy!
