I hear from a a fellow rider in the Subie community that someone ran a clothesline across Mines Rd tonight. A couple layers of duct tape running across the road. Just wanted to warn everyone here to watch be careful riding out there.

Don't know if it's kids or not, but it sounds like it would be. No joke, please be careful!!

Oh, and he removed the tape after some guy hit it with his car. Just be on the lookout for anymore clotheslines.

Riddle me this.
Mighty dangerous? It's downright illegal. I read an article (probably on here) where someone did something similar in a residential area, which hit their neighbor off their bike. They were charged with some serious offense I can't recall. It may have been attempted homicide (or whatever the technical term is).

Similar things have happened to Hwy 84, Hwy 9, Hwy 35, etc. Poster should go to LEO Forum & put a link up so LEO's see this. Maybe one of them might be a local?

headed out there in a few hours. was your friend more specific with the location? I'll be on alert the whole stretch but it would be nice to have an approximate locale.

I worked with a guy whose little brother was killed by a wire strung up across a dirt trail because they didn't like the noise.

Just recently here in N. Nev, NDOT strung a chain across a trail because of 'neighbor complaints' and pending construction, and a guy on his ATV decapitated himself on it.

He didn't say specifically. Just that he was heading out of Livermore and if was dark out already. At least during the day you shouldn't have too worry too much.

That's fucked up. People need to think about the consequences of their actions more.

If you guys find anything note the exact location and notify CHP before someone gets killed.:|

I had a close call with this type event many years ago. The thin but strong line (fishing line?) snagged the front faceshield snap on my open face helmet and pulled my head back until it released. About a foot lower and I wouldn't be writing this. Scary shit.

wires on roads are so dangerous and so effective that they were used throughout WWII. Jeeps and motorcycles were often rigged with "wire cutters" like this one (that vertical pole in front):
